jenni's story averted suicide

Posted by Phil on December 26, 2013, at 19:08:01

Dr we have a 14 year old girl coming in, very depressed
Where are her parents
We are trying to find them now
Paramedics said she said she's too tired for suicide
From the mouth of babes

(hilarios drunken laughter)
Hi we're Jenni;s parents
I sure you recognize my husband
Senator Sa.....
Well senator shitface, I don't give a f*ck who you are

Why is your daughter here all alone
A drug company sponsored a party so..
Have you seen your daughter arns
She's had been cutting for years..
I mean we work a lot of hours

The help takes care of Jenny
I want both of you in my office
At 9 a.m. tomorrow
But we have a huge vote tomorrow
We're doing to sink Obamacare..

Your daughters going to kill herself
With all the money we have
We give her everything
When was the last time you said I love you
Well she knows that WHEN GODDAMNIT?

Uh, we uh don't know
(am I getting through now)
Doctor, can we go to counseling with Jenny
Yes but Jenny will not be living with you for a while

Can we see her now
Not now, soon
The couple breaks down
I think it's true remorse
My job was to help Jenny
It's going to be a long road

I leaned on Jenni's doorway
She was fast asleep
I brushed her hair back
Then under my breath I love you
She opened her and said
And I love you too ok thanks

it is hard.

i think sometimes people (I?) and tempted to... write off? undermine? dismiss? the suffering of the 'worried well' (I didn't choose that term). But: the suffering is, in many instances, very real. And... Nobody chooses (according to me) who they are born to. WHether they are born to rich or to poor. And so one shouldn't blame them either way. Especially when they are young (and also when they aren't so young...).

I think there is a temptation to think that if only those people will think on those worse off...

And all I can say is... When I identified with that group. That strategy did not work for me.

So...

There it is.
