thats funny. I am wondering if that can foster fishes, plants and other species.

Look what happened in Italy. Maybe that wreckage could be used by plants, fishes, microorganisms and algas some years later.

Do you live near the ocean?

When was in holidays I only used to snorkel but not diving.

I like the BBC nature films like wild china, Africa and the blue planet

I hope they're able to pump out the oil from the wreck before it will cause a mess in that protected area.

It seems that this surrealistic scene does attract some tourists. At least I've seen images in the newspapers from people taking pictures in front of the ship on the coastline.

I have never been on that island but on some islands around and its beautiful.

I unfortunately,do not live near the ocean. Its a dream of my husband and mine to sell everything once our son graduates college. Then we'd love to move twd ocean,on the east coast.I do remember as a child, feeling such euphoria as I ran twd the beach and jumped into the waves.I also am very concernd about the fuel in this ship.Im alwys devastated when I hear of the ocean being ravaged by oil,or pollution of any type.I had never heard of the island where the ship is,but I want to learn more about it.

Francesco Schettino said on Facebook that he wanted to greet the island. And he did! (actually some kind of black humor). Tragically the tradition and practice of Italian people to communicate very extensively has possibly lead to some extent to that accident.

I can imagine that the long coast in oregon and the east coast must be marvelous.

I lived at the Beach for the longest two years of my life. My dream had been to live there. Was living in Emerald Isle end of outer Banks and was a horrible experience. Had a weekend condo went weekly and it was great. But the rich leave in winter and the beach is not pretty at all. And horrible wind. Dead animals washed up on the Shore. So seriously get a weekend place and go often. Unless you have a great deal of money and can leave when all becomes deserted during winter. Or move to Florida or a warm state. Phillipa

Near is a relative factor, I would say no. I have already seen the white cliffs and these are impressive. You can go by ship from France to England instead of taking the underground train.

I go approximately once a year to see the ocean, the north sea or in the south. The north sea is different, especially the cloud "scenes" or sunsets before storms (pictured by van Gogh on canvas) are impressive. But I am a lover of mountain wandering in the summertime too, therefore i spend my holidays at the weekend. I am quite a Puritan actually in terms of being in nature with only the most essential things. I would like to explore Florence and some other cities again in the near future. My favorite countries in Europe are probably France and Italy, but I don't like to make any ratings. Nothing is perfect.
