Carbon Monoxide Detector going off again!

Posted by Deneb on September 25, 2011, at 12:11:24

A few months ago our CO detector alarm started going off in the middle of the night after I sprayed the bathroom with a ton of Lysol. We called the fire department, who came and said everyone was OK, no CO. I was thinking that maybe the Lysol triggered the CO detector or something. The fire department told us our CO detector was defective so we go rid of it.

Well, my mom just bought another new CO detector and it keeps going off too! What are the chances of having two defective CO detectors? The Lysol must be gone by now right? I mean it's been months! Should we be worried? It must not be CO in the house because I feel fine! What should we do?

My mom put in new batteries and it still went off.

Maybe it's the power of suggestion or something, but I feel a bit foggy brained. I decided to call the gas company. They're sending someone in to check things out. I'll sleep better tonight knowing everything is all clear.

I'm really stumped as to what is causing all our CO detectors to go off. This time we didn't use any cleaning products.

Sorry, forgot to update everyone. The gas company guy came and didn't find any trace of CO.

My Mom also took our new CO detector to my aunt's house and it beeps there too so it was a faulty detector.

We got a new one now and it doesn't beep.
