My tsh numbers came in. Incredibly hyperthyroid. .O5! So no wonder I am ranting. My heart rate has been between 85-97. My gp makes no remark, but that's awfully aerobic for bedrest or a swim in the kiddie pool.
So hooray! It isn't emsam. Maybe my beloved bits of benzo will begin to work again.
You know, I hear the miracle stories of armour thyroid. My trial coincides with some of the very worst times. My conclusion is that I can't handle t3 in any form.
Last night I ripped apart my med closet, looking for any lost odd bottle. Lunesta! Yes, I took 3 :( but I slept and slept.
OMG. Let it be this simple.

My message was crazy. :P. Sorry. Still ranting!
Normally I'm hypo thyroid. So I start a more naturally substance called armour That is pig thyroid. Well, it's my assumption that the t3 is what is making me suddenly hyper. And cranky and irritable. I had been blaming the emsam
I''ve decimated my benzo cushion at last. My new gp is an addiction expert (lucky me ). She says no xanax if I take Valium to sleep. She gives me ten 5mg pills at a time and overrides my pdoc's orders for daytime xanax. I mean, he either doesn't know or tacitly agrees. I am a pirrhia(sp?)) at my nice pharmacy and my doctors :( Maybe here, too.
:(
Meanwhile I have a super headache from anxiety (xanax was my security blanket) and from the lunesta. It was shoved to the back of the closet for a very good reason.
Oh brother. What a soap opera.

You're not a pariah(sp??) dear, just someone trying to manage anxiety, not a small feat.

A pariah at the pharmacy?
I had a friend who had an overactive thyroid. She couldn't keep her foot on the car accelerator it was bouncing around so much.
So they gave her some radioactive iodine to drink. She vomited that up in the gutter. The doctor was very concerned and wanted to know the precise location so a team could be sent around to clean up the radioactivity.

Thanks sigi, um, for sharing ;-)
Do you know the 50's (not 40's I don't think) movie D.O.A.?
If you don't, promise to rent it. Do not under any circumstance rent the one with Dennis Quaid or whatever. This film is strictly black & white.
I'm supposed to have a barium swallow. I don't really know why. Isn't that radioactive?

No, I don't know D.O.A.
I will get it and look at it with my son.
I'm sure you know this....

Your son will adore it. It is very corny and sensational for the time, but really steeped in pathos. Not even a B movie, maybe a little below that quality.
A good follow up would be the Cohen Brothers' sleeper, "The Man Who Wasn't There".
Now to check out your link.

Yes, but don't read any spoilers. In a past life I taught a course on film noir. It is an amazing genre.

Talking about B grade movies.......
Years ago (15?) we saw a film about someone who made B grade movies. It was set in Hollywood in the 30s maybe. I remember a large and unconvincing fake octopus monster.
It may have had Johnny Depp in it, maybe not. Black and White.
It was really good. I wish I could remember.

Perhaps it was a Johnny Depp movie?
For a nice bloke, he has been in a lot of bad movies.

Oh yes, what was that? He played an actual director. Darn! I didn't see it. Oh this is gonna bug me.
Btw, Dead Man w/ Mr. Depp. I don't go for the typically pretty face, but in that film his close-ups were iconic like stills from the silent era.
I have to stop posting and schedule my barium swallow. Then off to, well, things-to-do.

*sigh * thank you! Now I can do my errands w/o distraction.
I like how frank was like ed. But was Frankenstein involved?
I used to work in a book store. Every day folks would come in and invariably request some book by saying something like it has a red cover, is about this big, and is about spirituality. Then we'd find a green book, thiiiiiis big about alien abductions. Another customer satisfied.
I love the intricacies of memory. And the vagaries.
Bye!

Nah. I was about these dope fiends trying to make B grade movies. It was so funny. Easily the best Johnny Depp movie I have seen.
I do like a nice vampire movie. I used to like "Count Yorga", from around 1970. So relaxing.

> I'm supposed to have a barium swallow. I don't really know why. Isn't that radioactive?
Rather than being radioactive, barium is radio-opaque. It blocks x-rays. When you swallow the liquid, it coats the soft tissues of the esophagus, making them visible to the radiologist. It's used to diagnose e.g. hiatal hernia, GERD, or other conditions.
The barium sulfate liquid is often mixed with sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to produce gas, which will stretch the esophagus to show if there is a diverticulum (a pouch, or a bulge, in the esophagus).

Thank you. I didn't have it in me to Google one more condition or procedure. And this doc rushing it along. So I made the appt. I don't imagine anything will be found. If I sound a little Eeyore-ish, that's because after seeing 30 doctors I test very healthy but have fibromyalgia. I'm a bit worn out.
At least I know I'm not swallowing a toxic substance. Barium is fairly inert, I think.
Welcome back.

Barium sulfate, the substance used in these tests, is not toxic. It may upset your digestive tract, though. Just take plenty of fluids afterwards.
