Hello, and wishes for good health to all,
I don't wish to bore so I'll try to be concise without seeming curt, although this may be an exercise in contradiction.
I'm married and I'm also a military veteran. My education includes two college degrees although I'm still probably the worst speller I know. I'm close to retirement age and I've been in the same career, with the same employer, for over 25 years.
I became aware of the Psycho-Babble web site while googling medication information.
The factors most conducive to my wanting to join Dr. Bob's Psycho-Babble include: 1)Member input and type of information I've already seen in forums; 2)Reading the entire text in Dr. Bob's "Welcome", 'whew' and referencing the FAQ; 3)Perusing Dr. Bob's comments & background in his biography, as well as the stated philosophy offered in direction of participants. 4)Appreciation of the time and effort provided to produce this web site; 5)Being able to pass the required quiz to register after reading the disclaimers, 'whew' again, so I could earn access; 6)Lastly, having the desire to benefit and contribute by information exchanges and also gain from the uniquely individual vantages provided in forums by other Psycho-Babble members.
"This order of mention may not be the order of priority".I've had issues for more than two decades that I continue to navigate and confront. The nature of these 'life events' I'm willing to share. Some of my 'events' are, injuries that have resulted in chronic pain, medication dependency, severe hearing loss, and I'm currently experiencing a depression that's created almost total anhedonia.
I wish to participate in forums I find interesting and I'm looking forward to sharing information. If I don't agree with something, I'll share my diverging information as I believe appropriate. I'll always remain civil. I plan to be supportive and encouraging, or if I have nothing to contribute that is beneficial, I will remain silent. I believe humor is beneficial, when appropriate. I think humor piques interest and I know it also assists with my method of absorbing information. I also think levity may contribute light in darker subject areas when used with discretion and good judgement.
Thank you for your time to read this too lengthy introduction. I look forward to participating with members and exhanging thoughts and information.

Thank you, janejane, manic666, phillipe, roslynn, obsidien and dened;
Nice of you to take the time to extend your greetings.
As mentioned in my introduction, I've seen some polite and interesting communication threads.
I'll enjoy participating with perceptions and info when my contributions seem beneficial and appropriate. This will be hit and miss and my misses are more numerous than my hits.
I'm not good with keyboard entries and like many, my time is limited even with things that I find immensely enjoyable.
I wish to gain insight from you and your unique perspectives, and I hope to share my thoughts.
I had read some archived interchanges and one mirrored my thoughts and especially piqued my interest.
I'm sorry for my delay in acknowledging this collective welcome you've provided. I've set my e-mail to receive notification of new responses to my entry, but I didn't check my e-mail until this morning. I look forward to exchanges, as many sources have many vantages.
Thank you again for your welcome. I'll respond and request and provide info on specifics as individuals when I can.
May you enjoy health and pleasant thoughts and experiences.
Closing, Pabo

My appologies to Phillipa, Roslynn, obsidian and Dened. I mistyped portions of the 'handles' used with your posts. As stated by keyboard strokes are terrible and when I wrote the short list of monikers, I misread my own writing. I hope janejane, manic666 and Dened are correct.

I wouldn't wish to appear other than pleasant and correct, though I don't always manage it.
I've had some contact recently with members of the armed forces in my infrequent social outings. The first was with a young man with very short hair (almost none) whom I noticed near me in the pub. Before long we were talking and he greatly flattered me by saying I reminded him of his counter-insurgency lecturers. He had been in Afghanistan. I was fairly drunk. And then there was a Canadian with his friends, also in Afghanistan. I said 'Is it gonna work?' He looked perturbed 'I'm just a common soldier' or something like that. I said 'You're there'. His friend took over 'He's going back in a few days so we're making the most of it' and then he had something sceptical to say about whether it would work. We'd taken our beagle down the beach. We disarmed the Canadians by saying we used him to track down tourists on the beach with cocaine. Of course our beagle has never done anything useful in his life.

Hello Sigismund,
I do not understand either message from you Sigismund.
I lack info on Pubs, military in Afghanistan, or your stated inability of not being able to accept my moniker of Pabo. I don't find any of your statements relative to my introduction.
Hi Phillipa,
In response to my interpretation to your "getting things correct", I think many place significance on correct salutations. I also hope to minimize any confusion by addressing persons using their selected titles.
After this reply, I wish to start a thread on 'why selected handles are used with a request for their meanings' titled "Monikers and reasons". I hope you and others will chose to participate.
Thanks for your time in responding to my introduction. For those who wish to participate, I hope this subject on selected titles will be interesting and informative.
I wish to thank all who participate, in advance, for the input and insight this subject might provide.

You are very sweet and kind and I surely will participate in the thread. Sigi is sometimes hard to understand. So take him with a grain of salt so to speak. His heart is good and he means well. I like Sigi you will get used to him in time. Love Phillipa and welcome again!!!!

Phillipa,
Thanks for your affirmation and your welcome.
I appreciate your info regarding "Sigi". I did not interpret anything as negative, but as I said, I couldn't follow the replies from Sigismund.
The post "Monikers and Reasons" has been created.
