Chloe is my little shitzu she has allergies and changed food to duck and potatoes per vet. Now my other dog the other day had Chloe's tail which is Very full all matted and was licking it. I bathed her blow dried her, got the fur fixed and saw a sore on tail closest to body. Wrapped it in the stretchy stuff the vets and docs use to hold bandages. This morning she had the fur around it matted and licking like crazy. She was in agony and unwrapped it and pus. Poor baby took to vet they shaved her whole tail it's naked and sore. This vet a man gave her prednisone and an antibiotic but she still is licking and acting rather strange. The lady vet had given her a combo pill of prednisone and antihistamine last time with the itching skin and it was fine. So would you continue the prednisone or call and ask for the other med again. And only give half a pill late tonight. Can prednisone cause psychosis in little dogs? Should I worry or not? Shouldn't it be working for the itching by now. Any vets out there. I've googled cant find a thing. Thanks Phillipa

She is really unresponsive won't drink or eat called the vet he said wait till 5pm and call him. Yesterday she was miserable but she was there. Now she just stares wouldn't get out of her cage this morning to go pee. She will not drink. I didn't like this vet in the practice what did he do to her? Phillipa. Sitting here worried about her.

if the infection is in or on her tail . carnt they amputate her tail an she may come good. if it makes her well why not. i still take all my pups tails when there 3 days, an leave 3 inch .its so they dont get rapped in barbed wire or brambles as they hunt.an if they get stuck in a rat hole .i put my hand down grab the 3 inch bit an pull them out.
