To women who may be sex addicts: I had a similar condition for almost 30 years until I remembered in therapy that I was abused as a 9-yr old boy. To make a long story short, the solution for me was to divide my life into sexual and non-sexual compartments, with the rule that I had to achieve a worthwhile milestone in one in order to deserve the other. Gradually the nonsexual part came to dominate my life. I am too busy now to waste time in futile skirt chases.
The therapist helped me to keep the promises I made to myself. However, a close friend or relative who has good judgment and can keep secrets may be just as effective - provided you are honest with yourself and him or her.
