Interview tomorrow!!!

Posted by TexasChic on July 30, 2009, at 19:15:50

It's a contract job for 5-6 months, but it's a good one! A good foot in the door at a HUGE company. Plus, it's working in Photoshop, which is my forte. If nothing else, I get a good salary and benefits for 5 months and then go back to unemployment.

It's hardcore corporate though. So I have to go rehearse my intelligent sounding answers to the typical questions. Wish me luck!

Good luck!!!

And if you were a tree, what kind of tree do you think you would be?

What is your biggest strength? Your greatest weakness?

(Have I mentioned I'd be too busy laughing or crying to go through a corporate interview?)

It went pretty well... I think

It was actually very brief and she didn't ask me much at all. The only thing she asked was the first thing she said, which was "tell me something about you that's not in your resume". For some reason that stumped me! I finally just said, "I don't know about something that's not on my resume, but I'll tell you about myself", and I then told her about my experience as it pertained to the position. She seemed okay with that. Then she told me about the job, and it sounded really complicated, but interesting. I managed to point out how I would be good at certain things she mentioned, and it was all friendly and breezy. I just don't know how she could possibly know whether I would be good at the job from our short conversation. But I don't know, maybe it was more informative than I thought. Anyway, I should find out by Monday, so keep your fingers crossed!

~ ~ Do they ask stuff like that????
K

Jeez - what would the 'right' answer be? What if you said, "A hawTHORN" or "a WEEPING willow"

lol

Ditto to what G said.

I am always in admiration of your resilience & pick-yerself-up-&-go-forward-ness!!!

I think you did a good job of figuring out how to reply to her question.

You rock, love, Kath

Didn't get the job :-(

I'm bummed, but I find myself more motivated now that I've interviewed for one that I was really excited about. I didn't realize how discouraged I had gotten. It's good to be reminded of what I'm making all this effort for!

Thanks for the support everyone. I'll keep trying!

I'm sorry. :(

I like your change of attitude though.

Did you decide against trying to train for something else?

Sorry you didn't get it TC.

Glad that you're seeing a really positive side to things though.

Why does this not surprise me??

((((((((((you)))))))))

Thanks you guys! I am still considering additional training, but it was encouraging to interview for something: I'm already qualified for, could make a decent salary at, and maybe even enjoy! I was beginning to think there wasn't anything out there like that. It's just a bad time to be looking for a job. I realize now I need to put more than a halfhearted effort into my job hunt - when every job I apply for has HUNDREDS of other applicants. (The few I've actually interviewed for have told me how inundated they were with resumes!) I guess I have some work to do.
