Going away for a week on Saturday/mind ideas?

This is where we're going this time.

Not right on the water like last time, but SOOOOO peaceful. We've been here before. & not at all far from great Bruce Trail hiking trails & the stupendous beauty of the East side of the Bruce Peninsula.

I'm trying to relax about the fact that my son works 8 out of 9 days while we're away, compared to his usual 2 or 3. He's filling in for a co-worker. So I tend to be pretty anxious about will he be able to carry it off. Even though he's doing so much better lately. But my mind tends to go to him losing his job & etcetera!!!

Yikes.

Anyhow, if I can get my mind under control, it'll be a lovey time away.

Wish me luck. Any particular mind-tricks that anyone uses?

Kath

~ ~ Hi Phillipa,

Thanks. That's precisely what I want to do, but sometimes I find it really hard to control my thoughts.

The one strategy I'm going to try is if I have a worrying thought about 'home', I'll look around me, get in touch with the peace & beauty, BREATHE it in & in the out-breath, send some of that peace & beauty back home, then keep breathing it in & enjoying it. I think that might help. Sort of acknowledging the thought rather than trying to swat it away like a blackfly. I just thought of the analogy of a little kid saying, "look at me Mom; look at this; watch me Mom........" until ya look & acknowledge them. Then they show you whatever it is & go merrily of their way with whatever they're doing. Hope it'll work like that!!

Hugs Phillipa
