You'd never guess it, living here, which is no doubt why they do it, and in Tasmania too, an island where decent control can be maintained.
It is a very interesting place, Tasmania, with a history and geography to match.

There's a comment in there that says that for this person Tasmania was the most beautiful place this person had seen apart from Machu Pichu, which is high praise. Cradle Mountain feels like the beginning or end of the world.

On the east coast the rainfall generally gets less as you go inland, so that 150 miles in the rainfall is low, could be 30 inches a year. Another 200 miles in and it might be down to 10 or 15 a year. On the west coast the desert goes to the sea in the middle. So the centre is pretty dry and hot.
