Not sure if this is okay for the Social board, but I thought it was pretty interesting - especially for those who want to avoid sugar AND artificial sweeteners.
The sweetener is Stevia (which I already use) - comes from a plant - I've tasted a leaf - it is REALLY sweet!!

Yep, I've tasted stevia leaves right off the plant. It's so sweet and delicious. Processed stevia can have a bit of an aftertaste. It's better in some things than in others. I'll give the soda a shot if I find it around.

An amazing plant no?
Some brands have way less aftertaste than others. I like the Now brand pretty well.
West Coast Naturals "Nature Sweet" is good, but I can't seem to get it right now.Kath

I've never tired Stevia. I would try some. I heard it is very sweet and that you just need a tiny bit.
Where do you find Stevia leaves to taste? I would like to try some. It sounds neat.
Right now I use Splenda.

Hi Deneb,
I tried stevia leaves from someone's garden. It can grow here in California. I'm not sure how it grows in other states, perhaps in a green house.

Hi Deneb,
I saw a stevia plant in a Home Depot where they were selling various herbs & plants.
You can buy the extract (liquid) or powder form, specially made to put in tea, etc. You can bake with the powdered form or liquid form. You can use it as a sweetener for anything.
It is extremely sweet. For a mug of tea, I put in ONE DROP of the liquid extract. :-))
