I love that new show FRINGE on Fox

Posted by Partlycloudy on September 16, 2008, at 17:30:32

Kind of like a cross between The Twilight Zone and the X-Files. I was hooked after watching the extended pilot episode and hope I won't be disappointed with future shows. I just thought it was so well done (and I'm a sucker for shows set in the Boston area, I have to admit to that, too - is that a Steven King holdover??).

I watched it tonight on you recommendation, and it looks like my kind of show!!! I scheduled it to tape on my DVR. I wish I had seen the pilot. Maybe they'll show it again. I'll always think of the main guy as Pacey (his name on Dawson's Creek).

Thanks for recommending it! My latest favorite show is Stargate Atlantis. I've fallen totally in love with it. Its downright scary sometimes (which I love of course). There's some really good personalities on it, (not to mention some total muffins). Figures this is the last season, that always happens to me. I highly recommend it though, its way better than the first Stargate IMHO. Plus, its had two X-Files allumni (one died early on), one from Star Trek Voyager, and one from Firefly (an awesome show that got canceled after the first season, that always happens to me too). There was another Firefly person briefly on SG1. I love the way they're using all the scifi people from different shows.

Anyway, my geektom is showing. Later!

Thanks, TC. Yes, it is. (Someone's got to have a birthday then, right?)

I had a very close friend for many, many years with that birthday. So, you're in good company -- I hope you think in both senses, the shared birthday and the shared friendship.

My grandmother died on 11 September 1983. The death certificate reads 8:10AM, but she had been dead some minutes -- maybe as long as 15? -- when the doctor came in and made it official. My aunt and I were with her, and I like to think she let go after I called my mother and delivered Mom's message to her. After she knew that she didn't have to wait for Mom to get there. Being with her when she left us made her death much easier on me, and I stopped having the nightmares that started when my grandfather died three years earlier. As un-spiritual as I am, I like to think that Grandma took those nightmares back to him, so I could learn to sleep again.

It's funny, I called my mother because I thought she might be remembering too, but she didn't even realize her mother had died on 11 Sept. I still cry at Grandma's death, 25 years later, but it's not painful in the same way, and it hasn't come to mind on its own in years. I do miss my Grandma at times, still, and suspect I'll be 70 and still occasionally shedding a few tears for her.

And I am still on the fence about Fringe. We did watch the first one, and I liked a lot about it, but the jury's still out.

HBO's True Blood, though -- I was going to cancel all of our premium channels, but now I think I'm going to keep HBO to watch it. The characters are looking pretty round -- in Forster's sense -- and the dialog is pretty great at times. And, of course, the premise is a great deal of fun!

xoxo

I watched it last night but had to keep turning my head. I don't know what it is but shows that have certain medical procedures or even gore cause me discomfort lol. It was a good show, I just couldn't handle some scenes.
