Going back to work, anxiety, possible interview

Posted by TexasChic on September 16, 2008, at 20:29:50

I was supposed to go to the Pdoc today and go back to work tomorrow, but I called and rescheduled my appointment for tomorrow because I just couldn't face it all yet. I was only actually covered to be off work through today, but I decided to deal with it when the time comes. Then I checked my email and had a response to a job I applied for asking to schedule an interview tomorrow. Its close by, a small company, and pays a few dollars an hour below what I am making now, which is right at the bare minimum of what will cover my expenses. And I have applied for jobs paying way less with hour long commutes. Weird how this popped up at the last minute when I've gone so long with nothing.

So who knows what's going to happen. I just know I'm dreading going back to my current job, so wish me as much as as is humanly possible!

T seriously good luck tomorrow. And with gas prices and all the hours you put in it is worth it to take less money but with it hopefully would be a lot less stress. Phillipa

Hi TexasChic,

I am wishing you more luck than can even be imagined. May you run from your current job without looking back (scissors optional).

Sending lucky vibes.

I wish you the best and hope you can get this job. I will say a prayer for you if that is ok.
I always hope for people to be able to have a job where they feel safe and can be happy. I hope this for you as well.

Peace
Chelle

I won't say I aced it, but it went very well. The only mistake I can think of that I may have made was telling him I was looking for pay in the high end of what he was offering. This was after we had talked about how I was more than qualified, and he was going over what they were offering as compensation. At the time I thought I should be upfront and tell him what I was looking for. He said something like, okay, so on the high end of what we're offering. I immediately thought, why did I say that??? Especially since I know I will take less just to get out of the job I'm in. But the amount I said would already be very tight. But he seemed pretty happy with me. Especially since I was willing to work second shift (5PM-12AM). I've always liked second shift, you get to sleep late, miss all the traffic, and work is usually more laid back. And I'm single, no kids, no obligations, so that makes it easy for me. Plus, there's still plenty of time to take some of those college and/or art classes I've been wanting to for so long. So wish me luck on this one.

I go back to work tomorrow, but only 4 hour days for the first week, then back to the pdoc for evaluation. I only have 6 more weeks until my probation period at work is up, at which time I expect they'll let me go. So I should be able to stretch out the short (or at least 8 hour minimum) days until then. And hopefully have a new job by then. I've applied to a few other promising jobs here lately too. So So we'll just have to wait and see what happens!

Thanks for letting us know. Sorry I wasn't online to add my support to the others.

I send you warm thoughts & hugs & wish they could be IRL.

If you got the job at the high end of $ would you be okay financially?

The 2nd shift sounds like it would be a good fit for you. Keep us up to date.

My VERY supportive thoughts for when you go back to current job TC.

luv, Kath

I chickened out a bit

I just couldn't bring myself to go in today. I wrote my boss and HR an email that said my doctor okayed me to go back to work for 4 hours a day and I would be in on Monday at 8AM. I may have trouble for not going back today like I was supposed to, but I handled it the best I could. The doctor's note just says I'm okay to return to work for 4 hours a day, and that will be reevaluated in a week's time. It is dated yesterday, but it doesn't actually say I was supposed to return today. Now that I've actually given a specific time and date, I think I will be able to make myself go in (I hadn't contacted anybody about coming back today). And since I couldn't bring myself to call, the email seemed the best way to go about it. So we'll see what happens next.

Hi TC,

It sounds (as local young people say) "all good".

What you're facing is NOT an easy situation, so I'd say you're doing quite well in that you sound basically pretty strong.

I send hugs & you're in my thoughts.

luv, Kath

Thanks Kath! (nm)
