My husband has been complaining that I've been on a music jag -- listening for some time to the same music. In this case, The Pogues -- you know have to be a drunken Irish football fan to listen to them, but it probably helps. He's been complaining about it, and telling me he really hopes I'll get over it.
And this morning, I find myself wanting to hear something else -- he'll be thrilled, right?
Except my current longing is Buffy Sainte-Marie...
Yes. I do feel rather wicked to enjoy his discomfort so much. Wait until he hears "Uncle Joe!"

I'm not very familiar with these modern bands, but I do know what it is like to repeat myself without much appreciation from those close to me.
My current repeat is to listen to just 2 songs (Torn and Frayed, Let It Loose) off Exile on Main Street, and I've been doing that in the car for at least 3 months, but mainly on my own.
I have been thinking about branching out from The Grateful Dead (35 years of repeats there, on and off) to Emmylou Harris, and may even do so soon, if the Ixel arrives in time.

>The Pogues were an Irish semi-punk band from the 80s/90s. I didn't listen to this clip, but here's a link to one of their more familiar songs -- performed with the late, great Kirsty MacColl:

(A favorite of mine.)They also recorded some traditional Irish songs, and a few that sound as though they're traditional Irish songs... Irish Folk-Punk?
Buffy Ste Marie is/was a Native American folk singer from the 60s. Here are a couple of YouTube links for her:The Circle Game:

(Joni Mitchell was a phenomenal song-writer, but I was never impressed by her version of this song. I far prefer BSM's version.)Take My Hand For A While:

Guess what?
I saw 2 good English language films.
With good scripts and without special effects.
The acting was good, and of course the photograpphy, but it always is with English language films.
I'd kinda given up on them. They are
"The Painted Veil"
and
"The Band's Visit".Neither are set in the anglosphere.
