I am asking this stay on Social just because the number of people who read it are higher. I am sorry if it offends anyone. I am asking all to say this little prayer for my Dad, as his health declines further tonight. Thank you from the depths of my heart.
"Lord, look upon [Garnet L. M.] with eyes of mercy, may your healing hand rest upon [him], may your lifegiving powers flow into every cell of [his] body and into the depths of [his] soul, cleansing, purifying, restoring [him] to wholeness and strength for service in your Kingdom. Amen."
Thank you, and may you be blessed....
Jay

The bond that you and your dad seem to have with each other is rare and I hate to see it end--I hope not yet...

Thank you all SO kindly with your very supportive and caring posts. Geezz...when you can make a guy who may live a million miles from you feel more comforted, that is something special. I've already started the whole grieving thing....it sadly feels like a continuation of the loss of my two very special ones from a few years back. I had a good cry at the doctor's office, as he was with me through both of my tragedies. He wants to give me enough medication so that I can function daily, but like he say's, "we don't treat natural grieving". He also said if I can find comfort in spirituality, then go for it. I had told him that I was mostly agnostic/humanist most of my adult life, and it will take time, and it's gonna be hard. But, I stick to my core values, like not pushing it on anybody, and not being self-righteous about it.
So, thank you again folks. It REALLY means a lot...a heck of a lot!
Peace,
Jay

Well, his one kidney is shriveled up and just dead. He has 30 percent functioning in his other kidney. No dialysis yet. But, the past few days, his muscles in his legs have made it close to impossible for him to walk. Today is a bit better...thanks for all your prayers (everybody:)
He often has horrible nausea and acid in his stomach at night, but that has calmed down. The kidney doc said these symptoms are related to kidney disease. But, they come and go. The longer he can stay away from dialysis the better. I can't really talk much about the future, I'm sure you know what I mean. My Mom tries to joke around a bit with me, like saying "Oh...you'll still have me to boss you around..", and she means well, but I just fall to pieces even moreso. Thanks dear...

Prayer sent.
Sorry to hear he's not doing so well, J. If I may offer up from my own experience, make sure you look after yourself especially well, during this troubling time. Crank that guitar, slam those skins. Keep your flow, as best you can. When the time comes for people to be really leaning on you, you want to be as strong as you can be.
Hugs,
Lar

Thanks kindly Lar. I am trying hard to keep myself together. I cry a bit more easily these days, but somehow I see this as being a good thing. I can 'let it out'...catharsis and all that stuff. Please take good care of yourself...and try to get out a bit this summer, as I know the heat is punishing, but early morning or dusk is good for the nerves.(And you can get buttertarts at the market. :) Other then that, stay cool, keep meds handy, and drink lots of cold refreshments. My latest addiction is that Gatorade 'Rain'. Went through 8 bottles yesterday. :)
Best,
Jay

Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you. Your doctor sounds very caring & having a good cry while he was there sounds therapeutic.
My doctor is wonderful. It means a lot to have a doctor who you can be 'real' with.
i send my love & caring thoughts, luv, Kath
