somehow I became addicted to caffeine again!

Posted by llurpsienoodle on April 20, 2008, at 9:06:06

I've been drinking diet redbull every morning now for a week, and somehow I manage to sneak caffeine into almost every beverage that passes my lips.

diet coke, black tea, iced tea, iced coffee, etc. Yes, I have been sleeping just fine, thank you, and my mood is even and positive, at least once I take my wellbutrin in the am.

Do I need to cut back? I'm definitely addicted and habituated.

Girrrrlll, you and me both!! I know it's as bad as ever because Walgreen's is having a sale on my soda of choice and I got out of bed early this morning to stock up.....8 - 12 packs. Holy crap!

If we're going to wean ourselves off again, let me know NOW so I'll be finished with the crabbies (not the kind kk has, I'm all good in that department) by the time we meet up.

I'm glad your Wellbutrin helps you.

I used to take its gentler (so someone said) cousin Tenuate, but not for very long.

I even fail to have success with caffeine.
Tea doesn't work.
Coffee freaks me out.
Green tea might very well (for all I know) aggravate my insomnia.

I actually went a day without caffeine for the first time since 1975 or so a while back, and I'm not planning to do it again.

I got into real trouble with Red Bull. It made me feel great, but after a while my heart started to beat irregularly.

I think I would totally freak out if I were on red bull, caffeine and wellbutrin.

I would turn into a tweaker.

Diet redbull (my h says that I mustn't drink this everyday, as it is expensive, I protest, as how else am I supposed to get my B-Vitamins?)

A 24 oz iced coffee from Dunkin

please note that I passed up 3 opportunities to caffeinate.

1) I went to the candy store and bought jelly beans instead of choc. covered espresso beans.

2) I went to starbucks with a friend and got an iced tall iced water and a cookie. no coffee for me

3) I drank soda with dinner and chose the ginger ale over the pepsi max.

*********
So h has forbidden (discouraged?) me from the redbull in the am. BUT!!! there is lots and lots of coffee (I picked up a pound of organic at starbucks last week, and I still have half a pound of espresso roast and organic shade grown mexican). AND!!! I have a case of pepsi max waiting for me in the mudroom (no room in the fridge).

SCORE!!!

Well, the caffeine edict was for when I had bad bad anxiety in the am. Now anxiety is cured with wellbutrin, and I may caffeinate freely! hallelujah!!!

Mood is great!!! I've been gardening and knitting like crazy :)

toodles,

no plans to detox here. Things are going too well to detox. I just need to remember to buy redbull once I hit the ground. Diet coke just don't do nothin'

re. kk crabbies: I was itching for a week after she humped me. I washed the sheets in hot water and bleach, and all is well.

my first bout with wellbutrin was an unmitigated failure. pdoc said "clearly wellbutrin does not agree with you" I saved the email :)

This go around is more successful, it seems. globus hystericus aside, I feel wonderful! Too good? who cares!!!

I'm sorry that caffeine doesn't help. :(
I bet you have tried all the alternative stuff for your insomnia. Maybe some valerian tea? stuff knocks me out good!

What's your vehicle of choice for caffeine? I'm obviously not picky!

so far my heart is keeping up well. I have to substitute redbull for coffee, though, as we are officially too poor to support my habit. sigh.

funny thing is that I'm not twitchy or tweaking at all. Just mellow and happy. More decisive than usual. I finished knitting a poncho in 2 days, though, so maybe I'm a little hyper...

At least get to the hotel first. If Deneb and I can find a place, we'll stock up on medicine and have it waiting for you when you arrive.

is Tim Horton's "steeped tea".

I do NOT know WHAT they put in it, but MY does it 'hook'.

Kath

PS - hey - on second thought, maybe I'm addicted to T H's Steeped Tea?? As opposed to caffeine??

Hi Llurpsie,

I think having a gradual plan is an excellent idea!

How did you come up with the # 16 days??

Interesting about looking at it as a gradual process! Brilliant!

luv, Kath
