We've got another slaughterhouse break going on here in Cincinnati. It remains to be seen whether this steer will go the way of CincinnatiFreedom and find a country life on a farm in upstate NY or will be tranquilized, captured, and then found unsuitable for human consumption and put down as in the one heading for downtown one fine summer day. Multiple sitings of this latest hero have occured throughout the day, though the news seems to have learned its' lesson about breaking into programming with breathlessly excited chopper coverage. Guess that's because this seems to be a suburban versus urban cow. My yard's open, Mr. Cow. :)

Reminds me of in the summer in a nearby town, there was a circus.
There was a big article in our local newspaper about the police getting a phonecall from some teens, that went something like this:
"Hey, ya better get over here to .....street. There are these, like elephants!!"
reply
"Yes, like they're walking down ....street."
reply
"We really think ya better send someone over here."
It was really quite funny!
Turned out that someone forgot to turn on the electric fence that kept the elephants penned in!!
They had a great time; unfortunately left some unwanted fertilizer on people's lawns!!
So much for stray cows & elephants!
Kath
PS - I'm a veggie - so I say "run, cows, run - but be careful!!"

Switzerland every cow has a bell with it's own sound so the farmer knows what cow it is. Isn't the cool? Phillipa

I can recognize my kitty's jingle bell from 3 blocks away. i call "kitty!!" and I hear jingle jingle. sounds different than dog collars jingling, but only after about 2 months of learning. (and I have a good ear)

Feed lots are brutal. That was probably the only time in his life he ever ran free. I hope someone rescued him. I feel horrible for eating dead tortured animals. I am sorry.
