Dear Phillipa,

I'm not sick but my son is. He has a throat infection - left side only (weird) very sore throat & ear. Went to walk-in clinic yesterday & was given antibiotics. He's been fighting off a cold or something for over a week. Haven't heard too much else...one friend had an upset stomach.

Huge doses of Vitamin C (not the chewable kind). A former doctor of mine some years ago said take a certain amount of Vit C each hour - 1000mg or 2000mg or more. Keep track. At the point at which you start to get diarhea (sp?) cut back - that means you're taking more than your body is able to use to fight the illness.

I used to use raw garlic. Some folks use Echinecea (sp?).

My friend swears by Echilin. Another swears by Cold-Fx.

A 10 hour drive sounds horrible even in the best of health. Where are ya going? Somewhere warmer or colder?

I'm sending healthy thoughts your way Phillipa. So sorry you're sick. I hate being sick.

MUCH LOVE, Kath ((((((((((you)))))))

Kath thanks took l000mg of C will take more. No place warmer or colder ridiculous as all adults and the pressure is on to be well or I'm in big trouble. Love Jan although it's obvious with the dripping, coughing etc that I'm sick I'll be accused of making it up. Phillipa

Yes Phillipa, take LOTS of it! If I'm sick I'll take 4000mg at a time.

I wish you didn't have to take a 10 hour drive hun. What time will you leave? How long will you stay there?

I was reading your post on a different board. I do NOT think you need to worry about your memory loss hun. Stress DEFINITELY can affect our memory. Please believe me on that one.

(((((((((((((((((((((you)))))))))))))))))))))))

If you're still here, want to talk on Babblechat?

I'll stay on & check every few minutes to see if you go there. Post here if you want to/if you don't know how I'll help you.

love, Kath

Phillipa,
I get a flu shot every year but at the first sniffle or sneeze I start taking zinc. You can get it in tablets or in lozenges. Take whatever the recommended dosage is. I haven't had a cold in years and I have a very weak immune system from fibromyalgia. I hope you feel better soon.

Phillipa Dear, Sorry this is lasting so long for you & feels so awful.

Good for U about the Vitamin C. I wish they would help.

If you're that ill, I really don't think you should be travelling & I'm surprised the family members would want to be exposed to your germs.

Hunny, I hope you're feeling better REAL soon.

love, Kath

Isn't this 'Season' something else!?

Who woulda thot that in the season of peace, love & etc, there is SO much pressure on people to:

buy gifts,

bake,

go to parties they don't want to,

write cards to people they don't really care to,

travel & visit even if it's hard on us or we're sick,

Of course, we might want to do some or all of those things, but it seems to me, from hearing people talk, that it's the most stressful time of the year for them & they end up being pressured to do stuff that's stressful.

I wish there wasn't so much pressure about the "holidays".

On the other hand, I've noticed:

drivers letting others in ahead of them

people smiling at people they don't even know

folks giving extra to the Food Banks & other charities

folks 'adopting' a family to buy gifts for them

perfect strangers saying nice things to each other like "Hope you have a nice holiday & great New Year"

So it's not all bad. Nice if we had less of the former & more of the latter.

Warm thoughts to everyone - and peace, calmness & serenity.

luv, Kath
