This is what her fans have been fearing for a while. Looks like she's really gone off the rails this time. Apparently she's a diagnosed manic-depressive that refuses to take medication, and it's highly likely that she has Borderline Personality Disorder too if you look at her behavior in recent months - all those scars on her arms and breasts, and the substance abuse as well.
I can't say I'm angry at her like some seem to be, since I behaved much the same way myself when I was her age (did I ever tell you about my GHB overdose?), I just hope she manages to get on an even keel again. T'would be a shame to waste all that talent. I can't see it really wrecking her career in the UK though, quite the opposite. Her success in the states might be more of a problem.

omg my sister/flatemate is going to play that cd even more, I know that might sound offensive to some, but when it's been on high rotation for months it does drive me nuts. She is extremely talented thou, just not my cup 'o tea

Me neither, PJ. I've never heard of any of these people. The last 30 years has been a bit of a wipeout, hasn't it?
Although I confess to greedily reading the trashiest celebrity magazines so I can stay reassured.

You don't really need to know their names anyway.
It's just the same pattern over and over that I like.
I lost track of names after Michael Jackson.

Hello!! Sorry for my tardy reply, but due to various real world challenges (as someone else would say) I haven't really been able to get access to babble. Anyway all is well now (thank goodness!).
Yeah saw the Amy W story too, although some papers don't mention the drugs overdose, they just said her record company cited 'exhaustion'. How many real people, I ask you, get suddenly taken to hospital for 'exhaustion'? Hmmm. Well yeah perhaps.
So, she's really great, I only like her even more now. At least, lets be honest here, a complete anti-hero to the manufactored pop divas already out there. She writes her own stuff! About things that have happened to her! About real life things that could easy happen to us! She gets visably nervous and drinks to abate that, and makes an *ss out of herself, and has SI scars and is so real and organic and human and has an opinion, and yeah.
Buy her album its really good. Although judging by her recent behaviour I'm guessing she's finding fame hard to handle, so perhaps don't buy her album.

Or different circles. She had some huge success over here with a song about not wanting to go to rehab. My step daughters thought I'd like it. Big, big talent in that young woman. I hope she can live long enough to develop it.cs

They tried to make me go to rehab, I said no, no, no
Yes I've been black and when I come back, you'll know, know, know
I ain't got the time
And if my daddy thinks I’m fine
They tried to make me go to rehab I won’t go, go, goI’d rather be at home with Ray
I ain’t got seventy days
Cos there’s nothing, there's nothing you can teach me
That I can’t learn from Mr HathawayDidn’t get a lot in class
But I know it don’t come in a shot glassThey tried to make me go to rehab, I said no, no, no
Yes I've been black and when I come back, you'll know know know
I ain't got the time
And if my daddy thinks I’m fine
They tried to make me go to rehab I won’t go, go, goThe man said "why do you think you here?"
I said "I got no idea"
[Rehab lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]I’m gonna, I'm gonna lose my baby
So I always keep a bottle near
He said "I just think you’re depressed"
Kiss me, here baby and go restThey tried to make me go to rehab I said no, no, no
Yes I've been black but when I come back, you'll know, know, knowI don’t ever want to drink again
I just, ooh just need a friend
I’m not gonna spend ten weeks
Have everyone think I’m on the mendit’s not just my pride
It’s just till these tears have driedThey tried to make me go to rehab, I said no, no, no
Yes I've been black and when I come back, you'll know know know
I ain't got the time
And if my daddy thinks I’m fine
They tried to make me go to rehab I won’t go, go, go

I can't say I'm a fan of the 'Rehab' song either. I like 'F*ck Me Pumps' better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvswbFCj3z0
I first saw her performing a cover of Sam Cooke's 'Wonderful World' and I was quite impressed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOHfhP-38OA&mode=related&search=

What a wonderful film clip the Sam Cooke song had.
I was watching a film about Fidel last night.
I'd heard he sometimes spoke for 3 hours, maybe more, I don't know, at a stretch, and he was fascinating, hugely charismatic, terrible etc. What a species we are.
It's a wonder we haven't completely wiped ourselves out.

I hadn't noticed him Siggy. Just looked up his profile on Wiki. Looks as though he's been subjected to many vicious personal attacks over the years. Maybe his detractors have genuine grievances, I'll have to investigate further. Maybe it's just sour grapes though, because afterall: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOA4ixV-3jU Ahh, this brings back memories.
Terrible thing, envy. Didn't Gina Lollobrigida have a brief liaison with him back in 1973 when she was working as a journalist? My kinda woman.

Yeah, I grew up in the 80s too. I don't remember that song though. I remember those old 'Duck & Cover' warnings, and all the parodies:
