Today Wishingstar had her first meeting with her first young client. She'd heard some intimidating things about working with the boy, but I just heard it went quite well!
We're so proud of you!

Thanks everyone and thanks caraher for posting the good news. :) I probably wouldnt have done it myself.
No phillipa, caraher and I dont work together (unfortunately.. although if we did, he'd have to switch to social work because I'm not switching!) But I was excited to share the good news after the session and called him from the car on the way back to the office to tell him. :)
It did go well. I now know more about wrestling than I ever hoped or wanted to know, but thats ok. I feel like we did bond a bit. All of the issues I was afraid I'd have with him today (based on his history) didnt really happen at all. He seems very nice, as do the parents, and I felt okay about the whole thing. I'll meet with the other clinician (who works with the parents) tomorrow do discuss what she got on her end so we can plan the treatment out together. I'll spend about 3 hours a week (2 seperate days) with the kid for the next 6 months.
I'm scared and feeling a bit like I'm just a big fraud who fooled everyone into thinking I'm competent.. but so far so good I guess. And given all the problems I'm having personally right now, it feels a little ironic to try to help anyone else. Oh well. I've been emailing with Laurie about this (my old T) and she just said, "try not to do anything worse to them than theyve done to themselves." Hah! I sure hope I can handle that at least. :)
Thanks for being happy for me everyone. :) The support here helps a lot.
