I DID get the haircut. depending on how I style it I can be anything from punk pixie to dull librarian

That sounds cool, good on you for going and having it done. Short hair can be so much more interesting, but it doesnt suit me. My daughter has just had hers done into a funky choppy bob with one side longer than the other. She's not sure, she says her neck is lonely, but I think it rocks.
