The Orange
At lunchtime I bought a huge orange
The size of it made us laugh.
I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave-
They got quarters and I had half. And that orange,it made me so happy,
As ordinary things often do
Just lately. The shopping.A walk in the park.
This is peace and contentment. It's new.The rest of the day was quite easy.
I did all the jobs on my list
And enjoyed them and had some time over.
I love you. I'm glad I exist.

How come you got half and the other guys quarters. Sounds to me as if you just got out of a depression? Love Phillipa

Yes, thanks for asking Phillipa, had a bad couple of days, been diagnosed with Candida of the gut, it sure explains alot - depression, mood swings, muscle pain, fatigue, sore chest, weight gain. I have to follow an incredibly restrictive diet, but today I feel positive that I'm doing something about it and I'm gonna be much better eventually. I've been warned that the symptoms are gonna get worse over the next couple of months as the infection dies off. I've warned my husband!

Thanks Phillipa, my nutritionist has put me on a dairy/wheat/gluten/sugar/potato/peppers/mushroom and a few others - free diet. I'm not intolerent to meat or fish, but I'm a vegetarian! It'll be fine, it's just gonna take a bit of time to adjust. I also have to take very strong probiotic tablets and some other supplements. I'm losing weight though, so that good.

Some years ago (maybe 9) I started having my tongue swell for no apparent reason - usually after I ate something.
It was VERY scarey.
I was diagnosed by a really progressive allergist, as having Candidiasis - systemic overgrowth of Candida.
I went on that diet. I also did the "Yeast Busters" regime. It included:
Caproil (caprilic acid)
Ground psyllium seeds
Probiotics
Bentonite (liquid clay-like stuff)I also did a lot of research & was taking various supplements, etc. Pau d'arco (herb) & various things.
I had developed some chemical sensitivities - was VERY bothered by perfumes, smelly shampoo, hair products, etc. If I was, for example, in a movie theatre near someone who'd put too much aftershave or perfume on, I'd have to move.
The good thing Jo, is that the regime WORKED!!!!!
And it was totally worth it!!! TOTALLY!!!!!
I just wanted to support you in this, to say I know how hard it was, to say that it felt like a long time, and to tell you that it IS worth it & it works. Oh yes, - and the sick-before-better part didn't last 2 months for me either. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was more like 2 or 3 weeks.
If you need any support along the way, please feel free to contact me. Oh yes, a great book is by William G. Crook - The Yeast Connection.
AND - The Yeast Connection Cookbook - A Guide to Good Nutrition & Better Health. by William G. Crook, M.D. & Marjorie Hurt Jones, R.N.
IBSN 0-933478-16-X Mine is copyright 1989I especially liked having the cookbook.
I felt pretty stressed-out having such a restricted diet. I am trying to remember how long I was on it. At least a year.
Oh yes - I cheated on black tea with a 'touch' of cream - I just couldln't seem to not have that - even though I wasn't supposed to.
Oh - and as to sweetener - STEVIA - from a herb - available in liquid/powder/tabs. A life-saver. I didn't find out about it until some time into the program.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((Jo)))))))))))))))))))))))
best of luck; it'll be worth it & I'm here for ya.
luv, Kath
