I have this fleece throw with a picture of a lion on it. I've been sleeping with 2 comforters and my fleece throw.
My Mom just got rid of my lion fleece throw because she said it was bad luck. She said it was making me OD and unhappy. She said having a lion on top of me was a bad thing.
I like my fleece throw! It's nice and soft against my skin! Darn it. My Mom is being really silly. My Mom sure makes a lot of sense eh?
What am I supposed to do now? Do I go along with this superstitious thinking?
I hate this.

Deneb, your parents are of Chinese background.
This is a fascinating heritage.
Be as tolerant as you can.

You're right Declan, I should be more tolerant. It's hard for me when their beliefs affect me. Sigh, I guess I could always buy another fleece throw, maybe one with flowers on it. Surely flowers aren't bad luck?

Maybe speak to your mum about what might be good luck? Are your parents Buddhist? I know a turtle is a good luck symbol in Buddhism (one of the reasons I have one tattooed on my foot, and ever since having it done, my life has improved and improved and improved!! But i don't suggest getting a tattoo!!).. and turtles are kinda cute..
But, this could be a really ncie opportunity for you to go and speak with your mum about something nice.. kind of like a little bonding.. and small steps like that can go a long way to regaining thngs such as trust.
You will come back and tell us what she tells you won't you? *smiles*

Kath I agree with you. Deneb what would you like on your throw? A good discussion with your Mom is a good thing. Love Phillipa

This new one is patterned with colourful stripes. It's made of microfiber. It's very soft. I like it.

I'm so glad things worked out. Sometime its time to stand up for yourself, and sometimes its time to keep quite even though you know the other person is wrong. I feel like my whole life has been spent trying to figure out how to tell the difference (and I still don't know!)
