"We don't care how you're doing, we just want to know that you're breathing."The thing is I know this is really true (occasionally my mom will reveal her *real* self)...but it just hurts to hear it.
(she's a narcissist...doesn't have empathy...although has convinced many that she has, including those close to her...i will say she's freakin smart..)
I have a feeling a family member might be reading this forum...i hope to god i'm wrong...cause this is my free therapy here and i have a right to express and talk about these things. (It has taken me a long time to stand up for myself and my feelings. and my right to exist as a person. For a while i didn't even feel as if i was worth even that.)
I've finally learned to *talk about it*. You can't keep this stuff inside and don't ever let anyone abuse you enough to where you believe you have no right to. If you don't get it out...it will find a way to manifest itself. so you must talk about it, if anyone is holding anything in (although i don't believe in dwelling forever, just releasing it).
Make no mistake....narcissists do help people sometimes...but they do it for *narcissistic supply*...it's all about the supply. that's the key to those who don't understand the mind of the narcissist. I love my mom no matter what, but it hurts to know she doesn't really LOVE me. (And Dad...pshhh...who is that??)Amy...free therapy is great :)
