I discovered to my horror as a self declared (and proud of it) cynic, that to a large degree, and within certain parameters, I tend to expect the best of people.
I don't know how I'll be able to come to terms with this new self knowledge.

Hi Dinah,
Don't worry I have enough cynicism for both of us, and many other people, too.

Lately no one lives up to my expectations. My fault I guess. Love Phillipa

I always expect the best of people, and I'm always shocked and hurt when it doesn't happen. I don't know how to change though. I just want to believe that people are innately good. And usually they are! The bad stuff is just more publicized than good stuff. But I do wish I could learn how to not get so hurt by people.

>Have you ever had a job where you worked closely with the "public"? : ) I think I had expectations of the innate kindness and good of people until that. Now that I think about it, maybe it happened when I got to know my Mother in Law well :-)
Maybe that not what you're talking about.

The thing is that the best designers can pull off Optimism while making it seem Cynical. Now that's talent!
