An endurance test

Posted by ClearSkies on November 23, 2006, at 8:58:16

I just have to get through the next few days. My jaw is popping from being clenched, my palms have fingernail marks from clenching my fists. I love these people but I can't wait for them to go home.

Happy thanksgiving

Hi ClearSkies,

Pass the Clonazepam with the mashed potatoes and keep it coming.

Perhaps consider it a Karma cleanser? Once upon a time, generations ago, perhaps you pee'd a curse word in the snow? Karma can be very cruel about incivility!

Halfway through

Every now and then I disappear and huddle on the floor in the bedroom. Curl up in a yoga child's pose, feeling the safety of drawing my knees into my chest and just being still, alone with my breath.

Close the door to the combination of tv, stereo, multiple conversations competing to be heard above one another. I press my hands to cover my ears, then my eyes, then my mouth.
Under seige.

Made it through to the other side

Like everyone else does :-)
My husband noticed that I handled the holiday better than I ever have. I do think that having my mini-breaks and slices of solitude helped to keep me grounded. Letting myself do this, instead of being stoic and miserable, was the right thing to do.

You can now return to your regular program.
