we are getting closer to doing the same thing...sell our house and put ours up. Got about two months left I think.

I always wondered about this buyer's vs. sellers market. It's BS because if you make good money on your old house (seller's market) and pay out the pay high dollar for your new house (seller's market), doesnt that average out to no specific market? And vice versa. I think you have to be in investment property for this to work.

Curtm if you make money on your house cause the prices have risen I think you have to spend more to avoid taxes but you have a one time deal. If that's the way it still works. They keep changing the laws. Love Phillipa

Maybe I can help. I will take the whole wall out for you and put in a new one. Then we can put the painted wall in your new house.

Maybe one of these years I'll be a home OWNER. I'm thinking that the next 24 months would be a good time to take a step to finding a permanent abode.

I'm picky though.

And I don't know what "shoring" is. OMG, I almost typed "whoring". lol! Well, hopefully, my first house purchase won't have any walls that need to be replaced using "whoring"!!

jylaugh,
your kids will learn that HOME is where they are loved, and it isn't restricted to a specific address. They'll do just fine, but they may need some TLC for a while. Heck, YOU need some TLC right now.

take care of yourlaugh. ((((jyl))))

-ll

tell us more about your paintings--maybe?

Aaahhh!! Those beautiful walls! I know that realtors want homes to be homogenized so they are easier to sell and have a new owner put their imprint on the walls. But what a loss...

Can you document them as best you can - photos, prints of photos, closeups, etc. before you cover them up? On the other hand, you have an opportunity to enjoy a new home's invitation to paint its walls. Lots of creative, new space.

((((jyl))) it's hard to uproot and move, even if you aren't happy where you are anymore.

I think putting an offer on a new house is the scariest moments in most people's lives. It's such an enormous commitment and involves more than dollars.

But I'm sure you've done your research and did what you thought was best for your family. While it might be scary for a while, it also might soon become exciting, and eventually it will be downright comfy as your kids settle in. Especially if they get to decorate their own rooms, etc.

How far away are you moving?

Jyl...

I hope I have read you right, but it also sounds like you are in some financial trouble. From my personal experience, get to credit counselling immediately. Not that you need the *counselling*, but they can do amazing things like make the people you owe to back off, slow things down, and pay for things in a way you can afford to. Believe me..you don't want to wreck your credit history. I did it to myself, and had to start all over, and just a few weeks ago got a Visa for the first time in 12 years. Every month, my payments record gets sent to the credit agency, and each time improve my record, riding the old nasty stuff, but basically just "improving my credit score."

Anyhow...that's just my little word of warning...and I hope I understood you right. That is also too bad about your paintings, like was said, take pics of them for sure. Best of luck to you..

Jay

thank you all..

Red cool-aid and shepherd's pie, yum!

You really know how to appreciate life's simple pleasures.

Glad you got a break.
