As tomorrow draws near, I remember sitting here a year ago worried for Dinah. I didn't know if she had left the area with her family, or decided to ride out the storm. And when I found out through babble buddies that she was safe, I remember my joy. Then the terrible aftermath - which continues today - but I tried to write to Dinah often, willing my support through the computer to help her.
I hope tomorrow doesn't bring sadness. For those affected by Katrina, try to think of the strength you found within yourself, strength that you didn't know you had, but found. Be gentle to yourself, for you did make it.
I'm thinking of you.

Dinah is the only person I have "known" to be personally affected by the storms. For what it's worth, Dinah- your struggles help me put this event into a context that includes sympathy and support. Thank you for helping me understand just a tiny bite of what's going on with you- your family- community- region.
And I don't want to become complacent and forget that there are real people and not just "stories" in the media today.

Annierose, I want you to know that your support did reach through the computer to me, and that I appreciated it more than I can say.
They're planning lots of things for tomorrow, I think. Including at my son's school. But I had such a horrendous workload this past week that we were just staggering around, with no idea what day it was. Just as well I guess.
Our family was so fortunate. But there are so many around here that weren't nearly as fortunate, and I'll be saying an extra special prayer for those who lost all their belongings and their homes tomorrow.
And a prayer for Florida that Ernesto continues to weaken.

Dinah I thought of you today when I saw on the news about the new storm. My Daughter is in Florida but due here on Thursday night. Hope they don't ground the planes. I think it will turn into mostly rain thankfully. Love Phillipa
