All the internet posting I do, I got tired of worrying about posting too much about "me", so I made a blog. It's all about me. Kind of like therapy-- I don't have to share the attention.
Who will I give my blog URL to? Just internet friends? Real life friends? Only really close friends? Anyone and everyone? I'm not sure. All my aspects will get blended, it's scary. Like normally this is the only place I talk about psych meds and therapy. Other boards are for specific interests. I have some friends I only tell about certain things. I thought the blog was just about one specific interest (see? I'm afraid to even name the topic here because that would blend that part of me with here, where it's all psych meds and therapy), but now I've written about other stuff, personal growth stuff, and medical stuff. So if I give the URL to anyone, all those aspects will get revealed to the same person. There's no person who knows all those aspects. Maybe my therapist, but then she only hears about things from my therapy persona, not any of my others. She might not even recognize my work self, or my social self, or my internet self.
So for now I did not give anyone the URL anyway, so it doesn't matter. It's just confusing, a blog is sort of like a journal, but it's public. I have to keep track of what I've written about and that will limit the audience. Like if I ever write about sex, I wouldn't want my family to see it.
I thought I'd have separate blogs, but it's too much trouble, so there's only one blog.
Do you have a blog? How do you manage who sees it and who doesn't?

Blog is great fun. The opportunity to exercise creative freedom and learn about technology in the process. Have fun!
My brother started a wiki for our family. We can log on, change it at will, and everyone can see our latest pictures, and get e-mails about our plans. It's really nice. Kind of like an evolving family newsletter. I've yet to update it with my questionable mental status, but I've been having a lot of fun poking fun of my brother for all to see. He's a super geek, of the management species.

Good for you! I know how scary it is sometimes to post publically. How do you start a blog, anyway?

I wish I had an answer but I face the same thing with my in-person friends. I really don't think that there's any one person that knows everything about me. I'm terrified that they'll all talk about me at my funeral and piece together the "real" me. Scary.

I've got two blogs. Except the one I really really want to write on is having problems because sometime between when I left NYC and came back, Google/Blogger decided that you can't have JavaScript in your post template. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ... maybe a PHP include....

I don't have anything in my template yet at all-- just one of the canned ones. I haven't even put in nice links yet. Although I did manage to add a description today.
So why 2 blogs? How do you split them? Is it like work/personal or something?

> So why 2 blogs? How do you split them? Is it like work/personal or something?
Two different "projects".
#1. I want/ed to start a web site for people like us to post their art, describe what it was about, what they were feeling, stuff like that -- not just for art therapy for us, but to help people who are not like us to understand. Our disorders are nothing that can be explained rationally -- art (written, painted(& scanned), whatever) I think can communicate that better. So I wanted to have a blog, maybe even a group blog, for that. Not enough energy to start this on my own, tho, so it remains a bit of a dream.
#2. Living in NYC is just a trip! Every time I step out the door, I find at least 4 or 5 things I could write about. THIS is the one I used to do a little javascripting in my post template on, but now I can't so I'm half pouting half procrastinating on finding a work-around so I can still do what I want.

Do you read Cityrag? It's a blog about NYC. Well, it used to be more about NYC, but lately it's a lot of celebrity gossip links and the occasional post about his dog Buddy. There's another good one, mostly photos of East Village, called Gammablog.

Nope. Around 09/2001 there was a NYC blogging movement getting together, even face-to-face, but the 11th kinda took the wind out of my sails and I lost touch with that particular underground.
I really need to get my NYC one up, and I've got some stuff I need to add to the others. I'll post URLs if I manage for either.

Just babble-mail me and I'll send the URL. I don't quite want to post it here.
