Sometimes a good cry is a goal unto itself. Just let it go. And then when you're all cried out, you dry off your face and wipe your puffy eyes, and you look around, and maybe the world is not so bad after all.

"Gone With The Wind," "Anne of the Thousand Days," or maybe "To Kill A Mockingbird." Any of those can facilitate a really good cry for me. And they go far to relieve the need to cry, too.
I hope nothing too awful is going on, and that the cry will bring catharsis.

Nothing awful.
Just one of those pockets of sadness that are part of life.

I've had three "meltdowns in the past week." I thought it was excercise and the heat and no one understanding how sad I am. Go on and cry. Love Phillipa

I read this thread thinking, yeah, everyone needs a good cry now and then, and I haven't cried in a while. So I sat down and started reading about two-thirds of the way through the last Harry Potter book. Anybody who's read them knows that part is REALLY a tearjerker! I think I cried for an hour or more, all the while still reading. Now my head really hurts. I don't think it did me any good.

Tex, maybe you're just dehydrated from crying so much. A glass of iced tea, perhaps?

I've heard tears have a healing compound in them. So it's good to cry.
