Hi all. Just wanted to tell everyone I will be off for a couple weeks. My husband has work in Spain and I get to go! Can you tell I am excited? I don't think I'll have a computer access there so I won't likely be on board though I will miss you all dearly. Pray for a good trip. I'll Babble in a couple weeks

From what I can tell Mental Healthcare in Spain is OK.
They have interesting drugs like Bromazepam and Bentazepam out there!

I was in Spain for 2 months. I had lots of computer acccess, just wander into a cybercafe and plink down a couple of euros. Where in Spain are you going? It is such a diverse country.

what is spain's climate (temps, humidity, sunlight level) like ...at it's hottest...if you happen to know? it's the only country in that area of europe i've not visited, other than portugal and italy....so far.
i'm considering, of course after checking it out for longer than the typical vacation time, moving to umbria as my 1st choice; tuscany as 2nd. i know next to zero spanish, but do fairly well speaking italian.
i'm fascinated by spain, so it's still in the running. have heard many echo you sentiments.
i scored so high on the language boards, i'm hoping my latin could still 'get me through' in spain. also, do you speak spanish well to very well?

No Puse, my spanish is at this level
'Ana y Carlos entran el hotel Maria Christina' etc etc. Spain varies a bit in temperature. San Sebastian (Basque country) is nice, but I liked everwhere in Spain that I went to. San Sebastian feels like France, climatewise, though the south is different. I'd avoid some of the coast, try to find the Spanish and avoid the visitors. Nice seafood. Spanish does not involve as much humiliation as french (in Paris, at least).

i've now decided that i'm the only north american who's never experienced any humiliation in any way in paris - of the 4 times i've been there, for 3-4 weeks.
thanks very much for all the info on spain...and for giving me a good laugh once again re: your great spanish-speaking abilities.
i now trust that i can check-out spain successfully. i'll be sure, as always, to avoid the other tourists.

have fun- hope you see lots of nifty historical sites. I just love walking into European cathedrals, just to get out of the hustle & bustle.
I like Spanish food a LOT! my best friend is Portuguese, and we go out for tapas often.
