I got a puppy!

Posted by ron1953 on June 7, 2006, at 13:49:18

I'd been looking for quite a while, haunting the local shelters and scouring all of the ads on a regular basis. I was determined not to let cuteness alone win me over. Alas, Willow, as she is now called, passed all of the temperament tests with flying colors. Don't ge me wrong; she's very cute. The shelter said she's a Shepherd/Boxer/Husky mix but I don't see the Husky. I think maybe a little Lab, too. She's 9 weeks old, brindle with a black muzzle. And she has the sweetest eyes. Now, back to temperament. She's been here since yesterday afternoon and hasn't had a single accident. I left her in her crate, which she likes, while I went to Petco. When I got back, she was sleeping soundly. She slept all night under our bed. She follows me wherever I go; didn't run off once in the park today. This is one amazing pup! We think her foster "parents" may have done some training. This is really cool, since I miss my ex-dog, who's with my ex-wife.

Sounds wonderful!

You sound so happy & excited....it comes through in your post.

Sounds like you really lucked out!

Enjoy.

Kath

PS - I have an 'almost dog'. A year & a half ago after several days on my porch, one ginger cat (who I named Ginger - original or what) entered our family. He LOVES me. He follows me around from room to room & loves to play.

He's a sweetie.

I opened a free account w/ http://www.putfile.com.
You upload pics from your hard drive and post a link here back to your putfile acct. I figured it out so it's not that hard to do.

No digital camera. So..........

I'll be taking pix with old-fashioned film, which I'll have digitized when developed. Hope to post pix say maybe in 3 weeks or so.

That's great. Let us see some pisc later. Maybe when that husky undercoat starts to develop. I can't quite draw the mental picture:

stern shepard stance
whip-like boxer tail
broad boxer underbite
thick husky undercoat
one tall stiff boxer ear
one soft fuzzy husky ear

> since I miss my ex-dog, who's with my ex-wife

Should I ask who got the doghouse?

i LOVE puppy breath ;O) (nm)

Sounds like my orange tabby cat. If he could fly he could cause a solar eclipse.

No accidents. This freakin' NINE-WEEK-OLD puppy came housebroken!! We are absolutely amazed. And pleased, of course. We hope it's an indication of how trainable she'll be. Viva la mutt!

She peed but it was sorta my fault cuz I didn't take her out immediately after she ate. But it's still only once. Good girl! Good girl!
