It's so hot inside that I can barely stand it.
The weather channel says 89 degrees. I don't believe it for a minute. No way. They've got to be five degrees off at least.
I can't understand this. H*ll isn't supposed to start till July. It's still supposed to be summer.

We just finished a hot spell also. It was in the 90's & humid!!!!!!! I hate it also.
We don't have air conditioner & now that Lily is living with us with her environmental illness, we can't have the windows open in case a neighbour sprays the grass or has the dryer on with the fabric softener smell or laundry detergent smell. OR a bonfire or lawnmower or even fresh-cut grass smell.
I think we'll have to get a portable air conditioner or something!!!!!
I hope that your hot spell doesn't last long.

Thank God most places in the States houses have central air conditioning or I die. I don't mind going out and riding my bike in the heat but I know when I get home it will nice and chilly in the house. Love Phillipa

you must be experiencing the same weather I had over the weekend. It was AWFUL!!!
I took about 3 cool showers everyday. make that 5. And I ate a quart of ice cream, and smoothies. yes. turn everything into a smoothie
curtains closed, window open.
I had to go buy a fan
My place got up to 89 degrees INSIDE, and stayed at 87 degrees for about 4 days straight.
fan was pointed at me when I slept.
hang in there. the cold front is on its way!

Oh a cold front would be blissful. We were supposed to get rain last night, but didn't. I always am a bit afraid to pray for rain, ever since I prayed for rain and we got a flood. But I really wish it would rain *just the right amount*.
How many times can you have fruit salad and bread for dinner? When I was pregnant I lived on the stuff, it can't be that bad.

Yes, I understand. Humidity and heat h*ll also started here about a week ago, in the St. Louis area (which is really in the South, you know...some around here just don't know/won't admit it...)
In May, for heavens sake!
Sigh. I like dry heat. So I choose to live here.
I'm so silly. Praise God for AC!!!

Sitting watching my son's ballgame, where even the coaches were feeling sick from the heat.
It's positively cool at home now.
But when I just haven't baked for an hour, I think we need a much bigger a/c. And maybe we need to tear apart the house and redo the insulation.
I need to reposition my desk under the a/c vent.

So is your temperature about the same as mine? We're the same distance south I think. Here its been hovering in the high 80's and low 90's. As of Friday I could still sit outside for lunch at noon. It just seems cooler than usual to me. It doesn't seem like June if its not at least in the high 90's.
A couple of years back I remember it hit 100° everyday during the month of May, and never got out of the 80's at night. But I guess all that will be here soon enough.
I don't think you ever build up a tolerance to it, hot is hot.

One good thing about the unbearable humidity is that it apparently means we're too close to water to get as hot as Dallas or Shreveport. I couldn't believe the Shreveport heat when I was there for the evacuation.
But we make up for it in muggy unpleasantness. I was sitting in a puddle today because sweat just doesn't evaporate. It puddles.
Sorry to be gross.

Do you have a horse? Or, perhaps you've made a mistake? Horses sweat. Men perspire. Women glow.
Or, thus was I taught, once upon a time.

Probably most people here have air conditioning - either central, or an 'in-window' one. We just haven't bothered in the past, but with my daughter's problem & not being able to open the windows like I normally would, depending on the summer, we'll probably get a portable one.
The weather is really nice these last few days. Around 24 or 25; sunny. Went for a walk in the forest today & the mosquitoes were bad.
My flowers are doing really well. Last Fall I bought quite a few perreniels at the end of the season when they were really cheap. They're doing very well & right now there are lots of very pretty poppies (as well as other things).
Hope you're well, Kath

I don't know Phillipa. There are tons of them in gardens in Ontario.
I suspect the procedure to make heroin etc would be quite complicated.
