I don't watch it consistantly, but I like to keep up with it. I've picked the last two winners from the final 12, and this time I picked Catherine from the first time I heard her in her audition.

Exams got me into watching it this time around. Probably not a good thing, under the circumstances... My favourites thus far have been Chris and Katharine.
That said... while I didn't so much mind the performance, I had to cringe at the song they gave her tonight. Hoping she isn't being forced into doing more of the same; it just doesn't seem to fit, IMO.
So glad finals are over; this is too distracting!

>I have a crush on Simon and he's rich!!!!
I'm with you on that one. It boggles my mind, but I am. This show is making me more of a thirteen year-old than I ever was, I think.
I never really could get into Taylor's performances, though the same applied for most of the contestants. I probably wouldn't be watching at this point had Chris not been on, because early on I caught mostly the guys' performances and... well, let's just say it didn't hamper my studying back then.
I'm still disappointed Mandisa got voted off so early. I saw it coming, but I think she deserved to get much farther than she did.
After this, I get to decide whether to watch Canadian Idol. I have the time, since it's summer, but it just might drive me nuts as I'm not going to have a TV in the fall.
Tomorrow night should be interesting.

Java Blue can you get the Canadian one in the USA? We do have a satellite dish. Love Phillipa

I'm honestly not sure, being Canadian myself. According to the site, it airs on CTV, so I imagine if you can get that, you can get CI. I think it's airing on the Fox station here (will need to check once the next TV Guide gets here), but I think that may be due to location alone.
I'll take a look and see if I can find anything of the sort on their boards.

Looks like it's pretty much a case of having satellite which covers CTV; more likely if you live in a Northern state.
Good luck!

I meant the last song(s, this year) written for the finalists. I don't have any qualms about the past songs chosen, really, except that it was a bit soon for SOTR. To be fair, I have heard those songs have been bad in previous years, and it's up to the singer to make it suck less, but I haven't seen it in the past and it threw me off.

Mine is too, no worries. Just planning my week out is beyond me right now, LOL.
To be fair, though, Taylor did do a much better job making the song they wrote for him "his." It was still cringe-worthy until the bridge, but that's better than throughout.

I thought they sang the first songs they had recorded for their albums? I tried to vote for Taylor but all the lines were busy for hours for him is it a scam? Love Phillipa

By "cringe-worthy," I'm referring to the way neither song really seemed to fit the singer's overall style.

I'm for Kat since she's the one I picked right at the beginning.
Taylor is cute in a kind of dorky way, and I think he's making that work for him. People love an underdog.
I also liked Madesia. I seemed to always miss Chris's performaces. I flip over there during commercials. I'm not a true AI fan, but I like the idea of it. I catch bits and pieces and like to pick who I think will win.

...if they don't record a duet at some point, I will be ticked. ;)
Congratulations to Taylor. He wasn't my favourite by a long shot, but he's really come into his own as a performer and he deserves it.

He was very smart the way he worked it. He took the things that made him unique and used them to his advantage. He charmed everyone. As for Kat, she may actually be better off in second place. She won't have so many ties to AI. It seemed like Kelly Clarkston didn't become truly great until she was able to do things the way she wanted. I never would have thought I'd enjoy her music early on, it was so generic pop, or whatever you call it. Then she suddenly became amazing once she was able to do her own songs. She's from around here BTW.

And, apparently, made Simon eat his words... I'm sorry I missed that!

Definitely... I recently got into her music and the difference between "A Moment Like This" and "Because Of You" is just incredible. I personally had a hard time taking her seriously for a while after that film, especially not having seen anything from her before... do you know if that had anything to do with the AI contract?

OMG, I completely forgot about that film. I guess I put it out of my mind. I don't know if it was AI related or not, but being that it 'starred' two AI finalists, I would think it would have to be in some way. But I don't really know.
I wonder what kind of music Taylor will put out? I wonder if it will be Christian Rock what with all of that 'soul patrole' stuff?

I never watched it; the commercials were enough for me.

I think that's referring more to Taylor's overall style rather than any religious affiliation. I just hope it's not too constrained by the AI contract.
