Is my iPod trying to tell me something?

Posted by llrrrpp on May 22, 2006, at 16:26:55

I have 60 Gb worth of music. That's 3679 tracks. So, I have the thing set on "Shuffle" which is pseudorandom, right? Today's music has been pretty light and fluffy: Mozart and some cheerful Prokofief. (Although now Also Sprach Zarathustra just started. That's the theme to 2001 Space Odysey, which is not exactly "fluffy")

Anyways... On Saturday, in the space of 30 minutes THREE movement's of Mozart's Requiem were selected. Isn't that disturbing? Out of all of my music, it selected those tracks, all at once. Kind of a downer. It was Wolfie's last composition. He didn't even get to finish it before his tragic early death.

Let's see. My median track length is about 5 minutes. That means roughly 6 tracks in half an hour. Mozart's Requiem Mass is 14 tracks long. The chance of playing one of those tracks is .38% The chance of playing three of those tracks in half an hour is about 0.06%. I think the iPod is trying to tell me something. It's not so innocent after all.

Think it's telling you to buy a lottery ticket. (nm) » llrrrpp

It's telling me that I need to feel grief.
