I love my Bob scarf. I think it's pretty in a messy kind of way.
Maybe Dr. Bob will want my Bob scarf if he saw it. I think I'll bring it with me to BabbleFest just to show him. Maybe Dr. Bob will try on my Bob scarf. Then it'll pick up some Bob DNA. Then I can love and hug my Bob scarf.
Is that creepy? Would you mind if someone did that with you?

Well, I'll give that question a shot, as I sometimes think I'm the resident expert on 'creepiness!' Actually, it's just one of my favorite, all-purpose words (that I use too much, I'm sure)
No, I don't think that's creepy. You are staying behind the creepiness line, Deneb,IMO. It's cool you're open to wondering what others may think of ideas you have about this and that, especially re: Dr. Bob. I wouldn't mind if someone wanted a bit of my DNA for an innocent reason like yours. That could even be seen as a compliment. I think you're still in the 'sweet' realm so far.
I think it'd be okay to bring it and *ask* if he'd put it on for a minute. He'd said he's rather not accept it as a gift, but that's different from say, posing for a pic?! That would be fun for you to take home - it's worth asking him, no?
PS - I used to know how to knit when I was a teenager. But I've forgotten. I think it would be relaxing for me.

well, I'm not going to use the word 'creepy.'But it would definitely make *me* uncomfortable if a virtual stranger wanted my DNA on a scarf so they could hug it and feel close to me. I'd probably feel sort of weird and violated, in a way. That's just me. Others will surely have different opinions!
I know when people are in relationships they sometimes like to keep a clothing item that the other person has worn, to smell their perfume/cologne/BO or to just feel close to them.
And I know people will go crazy for things with famous-person DNA on it. I remember reading something about how a piece of old bubblegum that Elvis had chewed and spit out became someone's treasured keepsake. So did a cigar butt he'd smoked. People used to gladly pick up his trash because it was *his.*
So it's not without precedent. :)
But from a personal standpoint, if it were me, yes, I'd feel weird about it. Dr. Bob may of course feel otherwise, and I have no idea how he would react.
Just my thoughts!

Hmmmm...thanks for your input JenStar! I can always rely on you to tell me the truth. :-) I personally wouldn't have a problem with someone doing that, so long as I know that they are not likely to become obsessed with me to the point of stalking. I might be encouraging his/her obsession if I let them do that. I think that as long as no one is hurt and the person doesn't mind, that it's okay.
Can we agree that I'm not obsessed to the point of stalking? LOL Maybe when I meet Dr. Bob things will be so different that my love will completely disappear. I hope it won't though, cuz love feels nice.

I've only been in one relationship before and I've never wanted to feel close to him. Then again, I never really loved him.
Before Hammie died, I often thought of wanting to keep a part of Hammie with me even after his death. I thought of cutting off a bit of Hammie's fur.

Well, maybe Dr. Bob will let you take a pic with him wearing it. I don't see how that can hurt anything. Fans always like to have signed autographs of celebrities. It is cool that you know how to knit (I am jealous). I tried to start crocheting again after like 14 years and couldn't get it right. Have a great week and good luck with your classes.

Yes, I personally would be uncomfortable with that. But thats me. Maybe Im a party pooper, stickler for rules, whatever, but I also want to add that I believe Dr. Bob already expressed how he feels about recieving a gift, *IMO* it is pushing it to bring one. Although I think it is really sweet you made him a scarf :)

I was just thinking of letting Dr. Bob wear it to try it and give it back to me, but I see where you're going with this. It would be a little strange.

I'm still stressed out from my day today and right now I have no warm feelings whosoever so it is difficult to imagine me wanting the Bob scarf thing to happen, but I think I do.

He just said, "Trolls are people too. :-)" and I thought that was a very considerate and nice thing to do.

LOL, I don't know how to knit. I only know how to knit one type of pattern and I only know how to knit a scarf. I don't even know how to end the knitting of my scarf. I'm going to have to get my Mom to help me out with that.

I can't sew, knit a scarf nada,lol. I think it will be a special scarf regardless. Still am jealous you can knit a scarf :) When you are done, are you gonna post a picture of it, that would be cool. Hope you are having a good day.

You can learn to knit. It really isn't hard. Ditto sewing -- although I like to tell people the truth I've found: sewing isn't hard, but CUTTING out the patterns is hard... lol

Hey maybe once life slows down a bit, and my brain isn't so all over the place I will take up your offer on knitting. I get so intimidated by stuff lol. I am a clutz by nature and am not coordinated. Is there any hope for me to learn that with having that kinda prob :) Maybe so.

You have no idea -- I don't even joke about tripping over the pattern in the carpet, because I DO. I'm terribly klutzy, and I can knit. I didn't want to say this earlier, because I didn't want to diminish Deneb's accomplishment, but if I can do it, pretty much anyone who wanted to can...But whatever you do, don't let any cats help you. They may offer, but they really aren't very helpful...

Hmmm...that's something to think about. My Mom can teach me too.
I was walking downtown today and I saw someone who sort of looked like Dr. Bob. LOL, maybe I was thinking of Dr. Bob and that is why he looked like Dr. Bob. I felt warm feelings. I think I will feel the same when I meet the real Dr. Bob.

Some weeks, after therapy, I take my knitting over to the local yarn shop -- or LYS in the lingo -- and sit and knit. You can tell the shops that encourage it: they have comfy chairs.
