Anyone Going to Have Fun this Weekend and What Ki

Posted by Phillipa on February 17, 2006, at 19:20:26

Was just wondering is anyone is going to have a lot of fun this weekend or will it just be a bunch of chores? Fondly, Phillipa

Its supposed to freeze tomorrow with the chance of ice, so since I live in Texas, this means I won't be leaving the house. People here have no idea how to drive on ice, myself included. So most of us just usually stay home. They even cancelled overtime work tomorrow because of it. And I already had that extra money spent!

Other than that, I am going to try to get my apartment straightened up. I know this has been an ongoing saga with me that never seems to get resolved, but I just keep pushing on.

I've been buying stuff at Walmart here and there to decorate. It helps motivate me by making me want to see how all my pretty, albeit cheap stuff looks in a clean apartment!

I got a chair for my computer desk, which BTW, has a history. I've carried this desk around, in the box for I don't know how many years now. So knowing how procrastination is my middle name, and how much I want to overcome it, that's my goal for this weekend. To put together the desk and the chair, and set up my computer so that I can actutally eat at my kitchen table!

Oh, and on a slightly different subject (if anyone is still actually reading at this point), I faced a neurotic hangup this week! Earlier this week, two people at work asked if they could get a ride home with me. I was almost stuck mute with horror. I have never let anyone but family ride with me. Not only am I worried about the cleanliness of my car, I'm terrified of having my driving critisized for some reason. I'm sure there must be some explanation from the neuroses I suffer from, but all I know is if I’m ever to have a semblance of a life, I’ve got to overcome it. So of course I told them I’d take them home.

But first, I snuck out not once, but twice before the day was over to clean and straighten my car! I actually could have gotten in trouble for leaving the building while still on the clock, but I didn’t know what else to do.

Well as insane fears sometimes go, it went off without a hitch. I can’t explain what an accomplishment this is for me. Its like I let someone into my space when I never have before.

So, this has also been a motivation to get my apartment clean. I want to take the next step and actually have people over! I've NEVER had people over to my place! This is an even bigger hangup than my car. Maybe that will be the next step in the "Getting TexasChic A Life" challenge.

Woohoo!

good for you! I'd die if anyone came over right now. It's a terrible mess here, it'd be easier to just move (not really, just kidding)
I have a really good friend who is a big fan of some TV show called 'Clean Sweep' or something, and she came over and revamped my bedroom. She thinks clutter is like the devil or something, it's sort of fanatical. It makes me laugh.

Thanks! I'm trying.

Yes I've seen that. Its actually given me some good ideas. I don't know what it is about holding on to completely useless stuff just because you 'might' need it some day, but its a hard habit to break. I think I'm going to have to become fanatical if I'm ever to gain control of the chaos. I already do it in some areas of my life, like work for instance. I keep the desktop of my computer arranged to a total OCD degree. I guess its either all or nothing with me.

TC, what an accomplishment!!! And you sound so excited. Well done. My husband bemoans the fact that I am so organized and precise, probably because I feel my home is cluttered - and it isn't. I'd be happy to pop over and help you!!
