There is no magic cure out there, - be it medications, therapy, surgery, .. whatever - that extra $$s can buy. So, I would answer your question with 'No'.

We have the wealtheist of Athletes and Movie Stars here in America....they have every possible medical treatment and counseling that money can buy..and yet they still struggle with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, personal problems, divorces, car accidents, drug and alcohol abuse, prison time etc...
Peace of mind canot be bought at any Price it would seem

I am not sure I would agree with that.
One example would be stress reduction. Money can buy say massauge which could very well have a positive overall impact on anxiety and depression. Especially in persons with depression induced by stress and anxiety.
There were also times where I could not afford the high EPA fish oil that really helps my depression. I had to wait till my finances improved. When I could afford it, my depression improved. So I would argue that having money could very well have a favorable impact on depression.

These are statements that poor people like me would like to believe. Movie stars perhaps face more social stress which could predispose them to depression. But I still would argue that having money could reduce the burden of depression in many ways.

I think money could help if you could not afford treatment, money could assure u the treatment u need.
But in this case its not the "money" making u better its the treatment.
Im sure money wouldent help a parkinsons person feel "fixed"
Difference being a healthy person would feel great just knowing they had the money itself,a sick person the money is not gonna help them at all.So i disagree as to how u put it.

Money can't buy happiness...but it can make a pretty good down payment.
It's nice to have fvck it money. As in you can leave your job and say fvck it!

In the case of parkinsons, money may not cure it,
but it could buy things that might help make the a little easier to live with.I'm sure that Michael J. Fox can afford certain treatments that poorer people can't afford.
To what extent they help, I don't know.

Link - I understand what you're saying and agree with the need to have money for supplements or even meds. I'm just speaking from personal experience; I'm very fortunate to have a great deal of money, and yet here I am reading this board daily.
I've used my money to try medical specialists, medications, and numerous alternative approaches. Unfortunately, I'm no better off with my depression than I was four years ago.
'Tis a nasty allfication...

Are you saying that having a lot of money doesn't afford you the luxary of having the very best doctors, treatments, extra help, vacations, expensive medications. Things I can't afford. If I has a lot of money I would seriously look into places such as the Betty Ford Clinic. I'm not addicted but would love to get off all med. Fondly, Phillipa

I think the big problem with celebrities is not that money can get them better again, but that money can also get them sick again, if you know what I mean.
As long as you don't let money make your depression worse (many ways that it can do that) then it can only help to make things better.

My only point was to answer the question, at least in my case. And that's 'No', a million dollars cannot make you happy. I can afford, and have seen, the best psychiatrists, neurologists, and psychologists in my area. I've had the time to try relaxation and stress reduction techniques, yoga, meditation, accupuncture, etc. I'm still anxious and depressed (i.e.)
I believe that what this boils down to is that we're desperately lacking in medications and therapies to help people with true, major depression.

Jim

Money need not imply happiness, but it can imply happiness. I'm sure that your situation could have the potential to be a he** of a lot worse without money (not trying to marginalize your suffering in any way)

I am sure I am repeating what some others have said but here it is in my own words anyway. Having a million dollars, my first instinct is to say HE** yeah it would make my life much easier. Then I think about it and yes, it would alliviate(sp) many of my problems as I have also have had months when I am scrounging to find enough money for my meds. I also know my depression is greatly increased when I am stressed and I think having alot of money would cause a whole new set of everyday stresses, sudden loving family who need money, TAXES, security, and awhole lot more. So yes I think money could alliviate the stressors I have now do I think it would solve all my problems NOPE. I am beyond a little cash fixing me!!
Best of health to all!

IMO, money can make life easier, but not make you happier. the best doctors are too busy to be able to give the best treatment that got them to become the best doctors in the first place. But to be able to get decent treatment would make a diffenrece for some. But the success rates for many of the treamtent facilities are still suprisingly low. I believe a lot of us, hold the answers inside us.
that was way too cheesy for me.

Thanks.. I currently take Zyprexa and Prozac. It's made me fat and somewhat happy at times. And of course I'm not saying there's no hope for any of us - just trying to say there are no magic medicines or therapies out there that only people with a few extra bucks can access to achieve "happiness".
Best regards,
