To those who honour the solstice, I raise a glass.
I think the solstice serves as a better new beginning than January 1st, by a long shot. At least it makes sense. It's all going in the right direction (day length) now.

> LarI completely agree, Larry. This is like a holy day or something in my house. I swear, six months ago my husband was crying like a baby because the days were only going to get shorter. Yesterday he was crying like a baby because "before you know it we're going to be able to open the pool". Yeah. I didn't dare remind him it's still Chicago and we won't be swimming until June. I just let him enjoy the day.
Glad you're enjoying it, too!

And I raise a belated glass with you sir.
Gotta love Christmas time in Australia, here it is around 2:30pm on Christmas Eve and 97 degrees.

Subtract 97 of those, and you'll come close to the local circumstances.
Despite the tradition of a "white christmas", ain't no rule I've ever seen that says the white can't be sand. And I dare say, that suits me better, just now.
Cheers, mate. May you have a jolly Christmas (watch that sun), and a good head start on the new year ('cause you're already on tomorrow before it's today, if you get my drift). Did you hear about the blonde who thought the International Date Line was an introduction service for immigrants?
Well, on that note, I'd best get to bed, before anyone can reply.
