Wish music wouldn't affect me this way

Posted by linkadge on September 13, 2005, at 19:36:49

The emotion that it brings on is good emotion but I just don't know what to do with it.

Coming off SSRI's leaves you with a lot of emotions to try and process. Its hard.

Linkage, I was thinking about you today. How are you doing?

Music brings out emotion in me too.

I think that is one of the things I love about music - the range of emotions that it evokes, and the memories that go with those emotions that wash over you - some happy, some sad. But, you are right that sometimes it is hard to know what to do with the emotions, or how to handle them, when they hit and catch you by surprise when you least expect :-( It will get better, and, with time, you, hopefully, won't be so overwhelmed by the emotions.

Take care and hang in there.

Hey Link, i agree w/ TamaraJ but music tends to make me sad :( i reflect back on times that were better than now. music is people expressing their emotions but all i can say is allow urself to enjoy the moment of happiness. u deserve it.

I don't think I would consider it manic. Just intense.

Love, lonliness, fear, ... SSRI's blunt all of it, but its still there underneith.

Sometimes I think that intense feelings that music brings out are, for want of a better word, holy. I had one experience recently with a song off 'Paris 1919' by John Cale. Something that highlights the feeling of irredemable loss. Mozart was good, but not lately, well maybe the variations at the end of the Gran Partita have that quality of restraint and grace in the expression of devastating loss.

I listen to chopin Etude in E "tristesse".

It just seems to capture so perfectly the way I feel.

Something I cannot feel on SSRI's.

I'd like a drug that respects who I am.

Now I am just talking nonsence.
