Katrina a message from Lou

Posted by phillipa on September 9, 2005, at 21:04:41

Lou Pilder E-mailed me and asked if I knew of any people from PsychoBabble displaced by Katrina. He's taking in people left stranded without a place to stay. Since he can't post I told him I would since I didn't know anyone from there. Does anyone know of anyone? Fondly, Phillipa

What happened to Lou?

I know that she is from New Orleans. She told me that she has been staying in Shreveport.

He was.. among other things Blocked for a year.
I found the whole episode extremely disturbing.

Hi LOU!

Where was he blocked? I can't seem to find it. Why does he always get blocked for a year? I'd like to look further in to it--plus me nosy. Thanx Gabbi

He had been warned before, about what he did, it was between Nikki and him, and was a clear flouting of her request, and the civility guidelines.
There were a lot of other contributions to the thread though, that left me feeling a little sickened though.

That's absolutely lovely, Phillipa. I can't think of anyone who's posted to tell us that...? Dinah has many needs, but her family seem to be okay in their hotel accomodations right now. Please tell Lou we miss him and that his question shows his true heart of compassion, of which I've never had a doubt.

And now, just a gentle reminder to all of us - we're *technically* not supposed to post *for* or *on behalf of* blocked posters, if I recall correctly.....BUT...

I can't imagine Dr. Bob wouldn't overlook it under the circumstances of the hurricane and what you were asking. There are surely exceptions to everything in times such as these. As long as it's not drawn out into a continuing dialog, perhaps...AND...

I could be completely wrong. Just trying to save gg, Mel and Dr. Bob some keystrokes, if I can :-)

Hope that didn't come out offensively. People tell me sometimes I think too much.

I think too much too - hence depression/anxiety.

That's very kind of him! (nm)

You were correct. Dr. Bob doesn't mind us addressing blocked posters but prefers we don't pass on messages.

We're ok

It's kind of Lou (of course, I always knew of his kind heart), and I'm sure there are lots of people who need a place to stay. But we kind of have to wait here until we hear more news from my husband's company. They're telling people where to go, short term. And intermediate term.

Previously when a poster was in need and others posted trying to assist the person blocks were handed out.

No special dispensations were made due to circumstances then.

With two deputies already posting to this thread it could appear that this behaviour, which is prohibited in the FAQ, has been condoned.

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#enforce

start excerpt>>>If someone's blocked, they can still read what others post, since what's posted is public.

If they try to get around being blocked by posting as someone else or having someone else post for them, I block the other posting name, too, and extend the duration of the block.<<< end excerpt

Can the FAQ be updated to note changes, if changes were made, about posting information from blocked posters?
