So yesterday I went on the tube...

Posted by NikkiT2 on August 26, 2005, at 5:46:18

Oh wow..

Yesterday was THE day, for Tube relief. In order to raise money for the London Bomb Relief Fund, about 65 of us got up at 4am, and got the on the first tube of the day at Amersham (kind of top left of the tube map) at 05:28.

And 20 hours later, we got off the tube at Upminster (top right!), having travelled the entire tube network!!

It was a complete roller coaster of emotions, and was physically the hardest thing I have ever done.. It involved around 10miles of running and walking, up and down stairs and escalators, between tube stations, and madly down tube platforms! Delays hit us hard (took us over 2 hours to do one section that should have taken under an hour), but we kept going, and my team finally got to upminster at 00:45, and were able to cheer the final few trains in after us..

No time to stop and eat, so it was grabbing bags of crisps and chocolate bars on the move..

Its all feeling like a dream at the moment.. I can't believe it really happened!! I hope I've made some really good new friends, and I hope the aches and pains don't last too long!! I finally got to bed at 5am, with my adrenalin still WAY up there!!

I kept a dairy on the way round, and took loads of photos.. as soon as I can think straight I will type the diary up with the photos and will ofcourse share!!

Just now trying very hard to find the energy to go down the shops and buy some food.. but finding mood *really* hard.. feel SO hung over and I didn't even have a drink yesterday! Some decent food is what is needed and some serious re-hydration!

Thankyou to everyone here who supported me and sponsored me.. Between us we think we have raised nearly £30,000 which is truly truly amazing!!!!

Wow. I'm proud of you.

You wouldn't think "riding" would be so tiring, would you?

Could you include your route in the diary?
