Friday was a bad day.
My husband and I went to the nutritionist to get some help with the new diet he has to follow. We left there wondering what he *can* eat.
I'm getting a new laptop at work, but the IT guys didn't exactly transfer all of my files and programs over and basically told me I need to figure out how to get the programs back myself.
So, I ended up leaving work a little late and a lot frustrated. Had I not left late, I would have avoided being hit by a car that was turning left before I cleared the intersection. In fact, if I had not slammed on the brakes, she would have hit my door :(. Thankfully, she just hit the front driver's side. Her car is totaled. I'm not sure about mine, yet.
She is in her mid-twenties and it was her first accident ever. She got a ticket. She was so upset and her bridal shower was the next day. I tried to tell her it was okay and that accidents happen. Neither of us had any serious injuries. I hope she was able to enjoy the shower.
I'm very sore, though.
My mom drove past the accident on her way home from work. She didn't know it was me. She saw the other car and thought to herself that someone must have died. She's always quite dramatic, but now she's a bit hysterical after finding out I was in the accident.
Good things...We weren't seriously injured and my son wasn't in the car. Those are two pretty big good things.

thank goodness you are okay All Done!! Very glad your son wasn't with you. Glad both drivers were okay. You're wise to be aware it could have been much much worse.
Have you gone to see anyone for your soreness yet? Please do if you need to.

Please make sure you haven't injured anything in the accident. Aren't you an angel for fretting over the other person!
Is there a support group for your husband's illness and the new lifestyle he'll be adopting? That might help him make the transition in his diet, to talk with others who have done it.

This positive tone to your post astounds me AD (I forget if I can use your first name or not here). As SC notes, your concern for the person who smashed into your car is the kind of caring reaction I could only hope to have under similar circumstances. Attitude is so important in life. We are all glad you were not seriously harmed.

I'm so glad you are OK!
You do have a gentle and forgiving nature - I love that about you.
Take deep breaths, and do go see a doctor if you continue to be sore.

Just what you needed after a near miss - an hysterical mother!
I am so glad you had quick enough reflexes to avoid a worse accident. You should be proud of yourself for that. I'm so glad that neither you or the other driver were hurt, but I know what a jolt that must have given you.
(And you are a sweetie to reassure the other driver.)
I found myself feeling the same way after leaving my first dietician. Maybe you should try with a second, as I did. I didn't leave her office sobbing. It's hard to learn to function with a chronic condition, and it helps to have a bit of creativity and compassion from the dietician who is helping you to adjust.

> __zhThank you, zen. I neglected to mention that I did go to the emergency room on Saturday. They took about a zillion x-rays and found (as I suspected) no broken bones. I didn't really want to go because I figured some soreness was to be expected, but my in-laws made me.
I went home from work early yesterday and stayed home today. The rest has helped and I'm feeling much better.
Nice to see you, zen :).

What my husband has seems sort of rare. I haven't found a support group, yet, but maybe I should use a more general search like kidney disease versus his specific disease. Thanks for the suggestion :).

You're sweet, Toph. It really wasn't that hard for me to be concerned about her. She reminded me of me about ten years ago and I know how terrible I would have felt.
Thanks for the nice post, Toph.

I know! I wish I could just blow it off, but she got paranoid the other day that I ended up in the hospital because I didn't answer one of her voicemails right away :(.

That's a good idea. When I scheduled this appointment, I just made it with someone near us because I felt we needed some guidance quickly. Now that we know the basics, maybe I should take some time to find someone for a follow-up who's had a lot of experience with low-protein diets.
Thanks, Dinah.

Hey. Sorry my post was a bit brief, but on the day of your accident I was up to my niblets at work. I did want to acknowledge my relief that the only damage done was to the vehicles. Re: Your hubbys illnes. I did a google search the day I read your post about it and found quite a bit of info. It is unfortunately one of the most prevalent diseases effecting the kidneys. I guess in a way that's good, since there is probably a lot of on going research and treatment options. I know you have already checked into all this a billion times. I would be careful about digesting too much internet info as it can somtimes be misleading.....as a practicing hypochondriac, I am all too familiar with this. When I have questions, I drive my doc crazy until i get the answers I'm after. I'm pretty sure he hates me....I am sending you and your family all the good vibes I can muster.
peace, love, and happiness

God, what coincidences exist sometimes! I'm sooo glad that you're OK and not injured. I hope your car is ok, too!
It's freaky that your mom drove by the accident -- maybe it's better that she DIDN'T know it was you, because if she did know, she herself might have freaked out and gotten into an accident trying to stop or help.
What a strange mess of things to happen! But it seems that the universe is on your side after all, because you ARE ok. I hope your soreness goes away and that you're not having post-trauma symptoms! Take care!!!

Oh, kid. I appreciate your response no matter how lengthy or brief. I was just kidding (no pun intended) you with my reply. I mean, with kk not frequenting the boards anymore, I find I'm sorely lacking in people to tease.

And yes, although, it's the first place his doctor directed us to for more information, I am taking what we find on the internet with a grain of salt.
We'll adjust. It's just going to take a little time.
Thanks for the good vibes. I can say those definitely help.
Take care,
Laurie

That is very true! I can't even imagine what she would have been like if she realized it was me and pulled over.
