Does someone know if they are any bracelets to support ourselves, ie the livestrong ones? If not, we should do something like wrapping our wrists with a grey piece of string or wool... lol... sorry... completely out of the blue... lol

babblebracelets that say BY color alone "this person holds a strong life force".
which we, as surviviors, do have. why not wear it...in a way promote the benefits to mental health issues when they are dealt with by a person with a strong life force.
simply by wearing one you don't have to be admitting they are your own issues. You could be wearing the bracelet to support a friend, etc.
what better way to support people that struggle everyday with issues but may be afraid to go to the docs.
just something to think about...what do you all think?

I like it... we declare by colour alone that we are survivors and members of a select clan.
I believe that talismans like this can give great strength to us!

Brilliant idea! I like it. What color?
I'd wear one in a heartbeat.

if we are not strong for ourselves and one another, why would we expect society as a whole to change their ideas of us?
I say bring on the color...

Great idea!
I think it would be soul strengthening. If you're once again being dismissed or humiliated by a Dr. or a boss for example, to just be able to look at your wrist and be reminded of all the people who are with you in spirit, it would be wonderful.

string or poly? string would be something similar to what natalee holloways mom is handing out in aruba. They tie on. Doesn't Kabala utilize string as well? Poly is the general type used by lance armstrong, breast cancer, etc.
color choices would be impacted by what is already taken. For example, we know pink is breast cancer, yellow is taken.
for some reason purple comes to mind. Vibrant, strong, alive. Other choices?

I think babble translated to color would be tie-dyed.

I was kinda thinking woven or at least intertwined threads or bands of colours.

bracelets made of intertwined strings of every color. Each color stands for the infinite variety of mental health issues people deal with daily. We may have these issues or 'challenges' but we choose to deal because we have a strong life force within ourselves that will not let us give up.

to be different there is another option which would allow us to bring in several colors into one bracelet. There is a Masai tribe in Kenya that does beading to support themselves. I've spoken with them previously on something else. They do do beaded bracelets too.
just another suggestion to throw out there at you all

wow... i'm happy to see i'm not alone looking for such a bracelet...
i've found a company that can produce customized latex bands ( like the livestrong ones) and their site indicates grey as the colour representing mental illness... maybe we could get Dr. Bob interested in selling them via this site, profits towards the site as well? just an idea... anyone thinking about something else?

I think it is a really good idea and would help to defray the costs of administering this site. He might not catch this thread in his reading, maybe we should email the idea to him?

Grey for mental illness? How dull (my opinion)
I thought of one in the shower this morning. A wooden chain, carved from one piece of wood.
A chain is loose, but is hard to break.
Wood is living.
No two alike.
I thought of willow - as it bends but does not break
And it's unisex. But multi color sounds like us, too. Hmmmm.......

It were woven strands of various colors. These could be fabric or plastic. Each color could stand for a particular symptom. I was thinking blue for depression. Maybe red for mania? There could be gray for apathy. What color would anxiety be? Or sleeplessness? I think black should be in there somewhere. What color is ADHD?
Just a thought---

I'm working on t-shirts, but I'd be open to something like this, too. Maybe a committee could come up with a proposal?

We have lots of great ideas here in this thread. Braids with colours representing different aspects of mental health, tie-dye colours, beaded bracelets. So much brain power here!
Anyone have any preferences or know about costs involved in having something produced and perhaps distributed?

I'd love a bracelet, but not a t-shirt, (not out of shame) I don't own any t-shirts, except maybe one of Lar's that's around here somewhere. I think Karen Kay was the only other person I knew who doesn't ever wear T-shirts
I miss you KK!
