Chicago trippers - will it be diff. now for you?

Posted by JenStar on June 8, 2005, at 0:29:38

hi all Chicago trip Babblers,
I'm glad you all had a good time! The picture is a cool idea. It's nice to see you, even the backs of your heads. Fine heads all around, by the way! :)

I was wondering: Do you feel that meeting in person will change the way you post, or the frequency of your posts here? Do you feel closer to the people you met?

Do you think "getting to know" Dr. Bob will change your interactions with him at all? Will he post more to you, or email, or will it be as before with minimal personal contact from him?

I really wish I could have met you all. Hopefully next time!

I definitely feel closer to the people I met. I can put a face on their caring, warm, intelligent, on-line personality. They are now
3-D and in living color. We are such good souls, this babble community.

I never interact with Dr. Bob on-line. I avoid the adminstration board (except to read the thread on the planning of this trip). So that will be the same for me.

I read the psychotherapy board, almost entirely, regardless of who is posting. Lately, I find I don't have much to add to other poster's replies. This phase usually passes.

I hope you can join us next year too.

I don't think it will change my behavior a bit.

I won't pretend it was 'nothing' - it was an exciting empowering thing to be around others with problems similar to mine. Just like being here on babble is, only in real-time.

As for feeling closer? I don't see how that could be possible. The interaction here made me feel so much like I knew them that meeting them just seemed natural, as if I was at a reunion of old friends.

The only real surprise (to me) was meeting Poet. To me she had always seemed to be a quiet, thoughty type. In person she's - bubbly, funny and just a joy to be around.

Dr. Bob remains the mystery he was before. But I thought I detected the hint of a very sharp wit hidden in there somewhere.

This is the end of the thread.
