7:15am starts for me usually through to 4:30 or 5pm. But since I'm pretty sure I got demolished in a restructured yesterday, who knows.

That'd be the fact that me or my position don't appear to appear on any of the new org charts. Hmmm, guess that depends on your definition of okay. I'm strangely ambivalent about it at the moment, more announcements at 12:30pm Sydney time, so about 2 hours from now and then again tomorrow. The VP took time out after the initial announcement yesterday to see how I was with it which was nice, but I kinda got the impression he was tryiing to help me prepare for the worst. Oh well, just have to wait and see, no point worrying about it. Thanks for the hug Ana you're such a lovely person.

Ouch.
My husband always says he doesn't know whether to pity the retained or the released when this hits his company.
I'll hope that whatever tomorrow's announcement brings, that you will be in the group least to be pitied.

Yesterday's meeting just told me the same as the one the day before and now there's another one today. But everything I've seen and what I'm being told suggests that only a miracle will save me. Just have to wait and see I guess. Thanks for your support it means a lot.

Thanks Alex,
I'm doing disturbingly well actually. Not so long ago this sort of thing would have been the trigger for a major episode, but so far so good. Really concerned about the two guys I inherited in my 'acting Mgr' capacity as neither of them is a clear map to a role in the new organisation - mind you either am I. Latest news is that it might not be any clearer until the week of June 13. Oh well, all the worrying in the world won't change the outcome.

Good luck. I hope things turn out the way you want. And hang in there. Sounds like a stressful time at work.

I sometimes have to be in by 8:30, and I HATE that! (oops, hope none of my clients at that time read this.) :O
10:00 a.m. seems so much more civilized to me. :)
And I don't mind working later, like til 6 if I don't come in til 10. I tend to eat dinner late. My body clock seems to be askew from the rest of the world, darn it.

Thanks gg. Oddly I'm not sure how I want it to turn out, and am still surprisingly calm about it either way.

Maybe...
Maybe...
Part of you is thinking that a change might be nice.
I'm not sure whether I am following along ok..
Is it about redundancy?
How long have you been working there?
Will you get a decent redundancy pay if it comes to that???One of my friends recently was made redundant from the language institute at uni. She got a reasonable pay and is now following her passion of becoming a wedding / portrait photographer.
Maybe...
Whatever happens will be for the best
:-)
Hang in there.

Potentially, probably, more than likely :-)> How long have you been working there?
18 years in August - it's hard to believe, only seems like a hundred.> Will you get a decent redundancy pay if it comes to that???
Now there's a question. Guess so, don't exactly know what though but I've got 16 weeks long service up my sleeve and 4 weeks accrued leave on top of whatever it is. So should be okay for a while. but the downside is that the mortgage monster still needs feeding.

Yeh, I know you're right. I'm still surprised how okay I am with it all.

is it friday over by you yet? i can never keep track.
if it is friday and nothing has happened it may never happen. friday is, i believe, the most common day for stuff like that to happen.
as an aside, i think you would make an excellent counselor.

Yeah. Me too. I like to know where I'm at. It's gotta be hard. (((Damos)))
> > How long have you been working there?

Yeah. A mortgage has to make it hard...
But with redundancy payouts you can actually end up better off if you manage to find a job in the near future. Especially if your new job has a comperable salary.> I've so lost myself somewhere I don't have something like that calling me. Hmm. Sounds to me like you do have something calling you ;-)
It could be the perfect opportunity to get some of that underway.

At the third beep it will be 12:36pm Friday. Beep, beep, beep :-)
> if it is friday and nothing has happened it may never happen. friday is, i believe, the most common day for stuff like that to happen.Yesterday and today have been hard hearing about people I've worked with and for for almost half my life losing their jobs. Especially when you know some of them have young families and big mortages etc. In one case husband and wife both lost their jobs. In my case the notknowingness lasts until the week of the 13th of june when the announcements will finally be made regarding my team.
> as an aside, i think you would make an excellent counselor. Thanks so much ana, I'm only just beginning to realise it's kinda been my unofficial job for my whole working life.

Geez you'd hope so wouldn't you ;-)
> Yeah. A mortgage has to make it hard...
> But with redundancy payouts you can actually end up better off if you manage to find a job in the near future. Especially if your new job has a comperable salary.Hmmm, sadly being 40+, long tenure in one job, no degree and no speciality doesn't make you highly sought after in Oz theses days. But what will be will be. Being the sole income earner and bill payer in the household doesn't make it any easier.
> Hmm. Sounds to me like you do have something calling you ;-)As long as it's not the debt collectors that'd be nice ;-)

Hard to break the self denying habits of a lifetime but I'll try, I will.
