Interesting day here for me.
I live on the New Madrid faultline, which runs through Arkansas, Southeast Missouri, etc and is usually not overly active. Today we've had 4 minor quakes. For someone from California, such as my wife, it's not all that interesting. But for me, it was pretty wild. The first woke me about 7:35, and lasted about 2 minutes. Only a 4.1, but the duration kept the bed moving enough to jar me awake. The other 3 have all been in the 2.1 - 2.7 range. Like I said, not overly exciting to most, but interesting for us. :)

There was only one that I really felt strongly. It's such a wierd thing though when you haven't ever experienced it before. When the bigger one hit (I don't recall the number but the epicenter wasa good hundred miles away) I was in a tall building in the the San Fernando Valley. They had experienced a really bad earthquake a few years ago that did a lot of damage so many people there were very scared. Not having had that horrible experience, I wasn't really alarmed. Still, a very strange experience.

We get one once in a while. When they come in the middle of the night I always cry. The intense feeling of having no control over this awesome force is too strong for me, it melts me every time. It's too awesome. It sounds like a train, coming, you can feel the actual wave moving in the ground. It's a profoundly moving experience. During the day the feeling is not so intense, even when the quake is a stronger one, for me anyway. We haven't had one that I've felt here in well over a year though I think.

Give me a good old hurricane any day. At least you know they're coming.

lol.. Well, we dont do earthquakes either, normally. We have had a total of 6 in the last 3 months, before that, the last one you could actually feel was in 1976.My little town has been on CNN twice that I know of. This weekend for the little quake, and 1998 for an F5 Tornado. I have a really nice photo of a Tornado from last spring taken from the front yard of my home. Those we are alot more familiar with.

The first time I experienced an earthquake (one I can remember anyways) was when I was little in Daly City, near San Francisco in California. (I was born in California, now I'm in Canada).
I was upstairs with my babysitter and someone was a teenage friend was knocking on the door and then the house started shaking badly. I thought the person outside was shaking the house because he couldn't get in!
I would like to see a tornado and be in a hurricane. I think it might be fun (as long as no one is hurt).

Oh, Shygirl that is so CUTE! I'm gushing but I can just see a little one, four or five or six, thinking the person at the door was shaking the house because he couldn't get in!!! It's like a real-life little piggy, little piggy, let me come IN!!
