pc, A good freind of mine buys decaf beans and leaded beans and mixes them. That way she's only half freaked out.
(Hey, just trying to help you get that buzz!)P

That's what I like to do. My husband has been getting "creative" with the morning coffee - like using the packs you get when you stay in hotels. Blech. I never thought I was a coffee snob until then.
Now I try harder to get the best I can - with matching beans of hi-test and decaf! Who would have thought that a morning cuppa would get so complicated. How are you feeling today, buddy?

Aw :-(
There are some good decaf's out there though. IMO it is worth spending a bit more on coffee to get something decent.
But yeah, I'd feel like I'd been ripped off without the caffene :-(

> Sumatra, ironic as it may be, is my favourite form of caffeine. It smells so heavenly while it's brewing. It's on sale at Starbucks right now....
> cheers, Damos
> pcWell another new experience for Damos. Can you believe I'd never been to Starbucks B4? Yeah, okay so it's it's not exactly what most people would consider a major life event, but stepping outside my carefully crafted safe daily routines (and places) is big for me. AAARRRHHHH so many choices!!!!!
Sorry PC but they didn't have Sumatra - it'll probably make it's way down under in a decade or so :-), but I can tell you the Grande New Guinea was fabulous MMM-mmmm Yummo. I tried to do some tastebud telepathy for you. Oh the blueberry muffin was pretty good too. Hey it was a good excuse to live a little ;-).
Okay now for an admission that will well and truly get me kicked out of the 'International Blokes Federation'. My very favourite tea is Stockholm blend. It a mixture of black tea, orange, vanilla, apricot, rose, safflowers & calendula. The aroma as it's brewing is incredible and the old tastebuds have a pretty good time too. Well think I'll just go and hide in the bathroom for an hour or so now.
See ya, Damos

No way, you had never been to starbucks!!!
I am proud :-)
It is like meeting someone who has never been to MacDonalds ;-)I am fond of their caramel macchatio's (howeva you spell that).
But my experience with starbucks is that you ALWAYS need to ask for a double shot of coffee cause they make it for all those kiddies out there who don't like the taste of coffee but like hanging out at a 'coffee shop'.
I discovered syrups because then you don't need to add sugar (my tribute to health). I wonder how much sugar is in the syrup...
Oh well.
Welcome to yet another american chain store ;-)

Oh yes PC. Good coffee is complicated ;-)
We have one coffee shop strategically placed on Campus that makes TERRIFIC coffee. But there is only one (that makes palatable coffee) so they rip you off rather :-(
But one must nurture ones addictions...
The owner also managed to get another coffee shop strategically placed right across the road from the largest hospital in the southern hemisphere. Would you believe that there isn't anywhere to get palatable coffee in the hospital grounds??? He is doing rather well...
Rip offs though :-(

> I am fond of their caramel macchatio's (howeva you spell that).Ooooh, I'm kinda partial to the old caramel myself maybe I'll just have to make another visit.
> But my experience with starbucks is that you ALWAYS need to ask for a double shot of coffee cause they make it for all those kiddies out there who don't like the taste of coffee but like hanging out at a 'coffee shop'.Yeh I just said can you make sure it's strong as there's nothing worse than weak coffee. Hate that ;-)
> I discovered syrups because then you don't need to add sugar (my tribute to health). I wonder how much sugar is in the syrup...I've seen the syrup in the supermarket, hazelnut, vanilla and a couple of others. Never tried 'em though as I'm a strong black man. I mean I like my coffee strong and black.

I don't get out much either...
> Ooooh, I'm kinda partial to the old caramel myself maybe I'll just have to make another visit.Yup. That ones caramel and chocolate (white chocolate I think) and coffee :-)
> Yeh I just said can you make sure it's strong as there's nothing worse than weak coffee. Hate that ;-)The shots come in measured ammounts so everyone gets just the same. Because starbucks make their coffees in huge sizes it can taste a bit weak. Try a double shot - but hold on to your hat!
> I've seen the syrup in the supermarket, hazelnut, vanilla and a couple of others.
Yup. There are better and worse syrups. I can't remember the one I like. It is imported from Brazil...
>Never tried 'em though as I'm a strong black man. I mean I like my coffee strong and black.
:-)
You can add syrup shots to black coffee.
No problem.I think the caramel macchatio is a kind of latte though (so in theory mostly milk and only enough water to get the goodies out of the coffee grinds)
I do love coffee :-)

Caramel and chocolate too - SOLD!!!

If the spoon stands up in it it's nearly strong enough - am partial to the odd double espresso :-)
> Yup. There are better and worse syrups. I can't remember the one I like. It is imported from Brazil...Oh, don't you just hate that, I do it all the time.

I'm fit right in with the Oxford St set ordering something fancy like that ;-)

Heh heh. Starbucks do all kinds of coffee... Their frappachinos are good in summer (minus the whipped cream)
Sorry PC this must be horrid to read.
They do do decaf...
Have you tried one of those yet???

Lots of other people so it seems, but I guess I'm really just a homebody at heart ;-) I actually saw a website about how to make a Starbucks caramel macchiato at home, can you believe it.
:-) Right back atcha kid
> Heh heh. Starbucks do all kinds of coffee... Their frappachinos are good in summer (minus the whipped cream)Hmmm, that sounds rather good. Pity it's officailly Autumn here now. I'm not big on whipped cream either so I think I'd give it a miss too :-)

> Have you tried one of those yet???Sorry PC but I have to report that I went to my usual haunt and got them to make me one and it was scrumdiddlyumptious!!!!!!!!! thanks alexandra_k :-) They were so shocked, they had to pick themselves up off the floor. I have a tendancy to be a tad predictable in my choice.
Something I never understood was caffeine free diet coke. I mean, no caffeine and no sugar, what possible point could there be???????

Just say 'no whipped cream please'...

You can't even say 'just for the taste of it' cause it tastes like sh*t.
Though maybe it ain't so bad if it is the only cola you can drink...

LOL! My sister drinks that stuff - she's caffeine avoidant too. But really, it tastes so nasty! I stick to seltzer water as my beverage of quantity.

Hey PC,
I honestly don't know how they drink it. I think the all time silliest one we ever had down under was clear, caffeine free, diet coke. Needless to say it wasn't a big seller. Surely dehydrated water would be an easier sell :-)
BTW: how you doing generally?

(shoulder shrug) not terribly great.
I'm still very anxious and now easily triggered. We had quite a blustery morning here and it took my mind right back to last summer's hurricanes. It was one storm after another, boom, boom, boom, and the stress of evacuating multiple times, securing the belongings in the house, and seeing the aftermath all around me... well, I seem to get easily spooked and triggered all of a sudden. Hearing the wind howl and seeing flimsy plastic lawn furniture take a flight down the street filled me with panic. Darn this adrenaline. It's not like I'm in any danger whatever, but my body sure behaves like it is. I see another med change in my future.Kind of makes you want to crawl under the covers.

My little corner of the globe is very quiet today. And yesterday we had the most fabulous sun-studded day.
You could always come visit me okay?

(((((PC)))))
Just the thought of getting up each day makes me want to crawl back under the covers :-) Wish I could suggest something that might help. There's is actually something you might want to try, it's called Bach Flower Rescue Remedy. It's totally natural so shouldn't screw with anything else but you might want to check. You just put 4 drops on your tongue and it seems to have a calming effect. Don't laugh but I give it to my dog when she's in a blind panic because of a thunderstorm or fireworks, and it really works. I'm into alternate therapies and people laugh when I spay Calm & Clear (a blend of Australian Bush Flower essences) around until they do it for themselves and realise that it does actually do something. Geez, I'm in full blown gibber mode aren't I - sorry.
There's actually a Category 5 cyclone off the coast of Queensland at the moment winds of 300+ kilometres per hour, I guess that's about 200mph. Apparently the worst storm in 90 years. We haven't had a really bad one since Tracy wiped Darwin off the map Christmas Eve '74. Fortunately it's a bloody long way from Sydney, which is it's usual glorious self today (at 9:00am). From my desk I can see the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and out across the harbour to the heads. Hard life ey?
I'm actually 31 days free of Efexor-XR after 2+ years. Feel free to pull up a chair on my virtual porch anytime.
Thinking of you, Damos
