..it was redirected to "students," but it seems like a sort of dead board (sorry Dr. B!)
Has anyone had their mental health issue(s) documented as a psychiatric disability and received accomodations for it in work or school? In the US this is related to the Americans with Disabilities Act. I'm not sure what the equivalent is in other countries.
I ask b/c my pdoc recently suggested that I look into support and accomodations through my university's Students with Disabilities Office. She said that my depression was severe enough to qualify.
I'm wondering if anyone has done something like this. Was it helpful or did it just create more stigma? It would be helpful to hear about others' experiences.
Thanks!
EE

In reply to ? that needs to find the right board..., posted by Emily Elizabeth on February 27, 2005, at 22:19:41
It cannot create more stigma because It is so confidential within the school. They could get in big trouble for releasing it to anyone. no one else other than the diability service should no about it. but I would recomend that you call the disability office or go in and ask.
hope this helps a bit
