stressed out mother=codeine for me?

Posted by smokeymadison on January 28, 2005, at 20:35:24

i talked to my mother today and she was really stressed out. i feel partly responsible b/c i talked to her all about my pregnancy scare as it unfolded. she is also kind of stuck btw me and some of my family members who are mad at me. they are unloading on her and telling her what to tell me i should do w/ my life.

i have a chronic hip problem that flares up every couple of months. i slipped on some ice and resprained it. it hurts when i try to walk, so i went to the doctor and got a prescription for codeine. now, to be honest, i could have dealt with the pain without the codeine. but after talking with my mother i felt so stressed that i wanted something. i have had problems with misusing pain meds before and am worried that i am falling back into that habit. but my hip truely hurts, so i feel justified. sort of. not sure. help!

i've had chronic hip pain for years. have they found a cause for yours? i recently had a flare up worse than ever, and finally got celebrex, which takes the edge off, but i still can't walk long distances or stand for any period of time.

the best i've heard is that mine's arthritis, but with the recent flare-up, i cant help but wonder if it's something more.

I've been abusing codeine lately. Solpadeine is an o.t.c. med over here, it has 8mgs of codeine and 500mgs of paracetamol (acetaminophen) and Solpadeine max has 12mgs of codeine. I seperate the paracetamol and codeine using a water filter so I'll still have a liver left when I'm older.

Basically codeine phosphate is very soluble and will dissolve in cold water, paracetamol is not and will sink to the bottom of a glass after a while. So I put the contents of 48 capsules into a glass (you could crush tablets either), pour in about 200mls of warm water, hot would distroy the codeine. Stir vigourously for a minute or two. Let it settle for about an hour and filter it using coffee filters or paper kichten towels. You are left with a clear bitter water containing 350 to 384mgs of codeine which gets you very very warm, sedated, safe, itchy and euphoric. It's close to smoking smack. If the water is cloudy you need to filter it again and again or risk your liver.

Abuse codeine with caution, it's highly addictive, but if you can handle it, it's lovely with a spliff and 60mgs of diazepam. :o)

have you had an MRI or x-rays done? i have had both and neither showed a d*mn thing. usually naproxen keeps the pain under control for me (an anti-inflammatory) but this time it didn't.

another question--does it hurt if someone else moves your leg or only when you move it? i have heard that if it hurts either way it could be nerve. mine only hurts if i move my leg myself, so it has to be muscle. of course, when it is really bad it hurts without moving at all.

just curious :)

i do have conditions called coxa valpa and spina bifida which i don't think would cause this much pain, but they found it in an xray. i've never had an MRI done.

it does hurt whenever anyone touches it, actually. i'm not sure what that means. :/
